    Chavara Village

    Hire a cab (check with the resort’s travel desk) to take you from Thiruvananthapuram airport to Chavara village where the resort is located.

    Ashtamudi is about 70 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram and takes about 3 hours to reach taking into account the slow and heavy traffic. The Club Mahindra Backwater Retreat is on the backwaters of Ashtamudi and not Ashtamudi town itself. To reach the resort, you will have to go to Chavara village.

    National Highway 47

    The highway is smooth but a bit narrow and goes by paddy fields & palm plantations. Small and lovely bungalows coloured in bright & unusual shades of yellows, greens, purples, reds and blues dot the sides of the highway. Gulmohur and copper pod trees with their lovely blossoms of scarlet & yellow provide a dramatic and pleasing contrast.

    In the monsoons be prepared for the National Highway 47, to be in a not so good shape thanks to the heavy downpour.

      Church

    You should pass Quilon in about 1 hour, after which the distance to Neendakara is about 10 Kms . Again be prepared for bad road conditions and therefore a longer travel time. The arrival of Neendakara is signalled by the fish market and this beautiful church just before the bridge. The bridge spans the canal which is dotted with Chinese fishing nets. Stop to take lots of pictures. In the monsoon the view is spectacular. Just after the bridge turn right on a narrow road for about 4 Kms to reach the resort.
