    Breakfast

    Stop at Kamat Lok Ruchi for breakfast near Chennapatna. Other options - Maddur Tiffanys, MTR, Coffee Day and Mc Donalds

    Or take the Bangalore – Mysore Expressway and stop at Kadu Mane for Tatte (plate) idlis and refreshing filter coffee

    Follow the road through the mighty rocks of Ramanagaram- this is where the famous Hindi film  Sholay was shot.

     

    When you reach Channapatna

     This little town is called  "gonmbegaLa ooru" meaning toys town in English. Do pick up the famous wooden toys here.

    Bird Sanctuary

    Kokkre Bellur Bird Sanctuary- a deviation near Maddur. The local villagers eagerly await the arrival of migratory birds and are convinced that if they do not turn up, the year will not be as auspicious. Ranganatittu - a bird sanctuary near Srirangapatna

    This small but unique bird sanctuary promises and delivers much. If you can keep really quiet and camouflage yourself well, you could spots birds from within a few feet.

    Srirangapatna - temples and historic town of Tipu Sultan. Maddur temples – make sure you snack on the famous crisp maddur vada

    Mysore

    Halt at Mysore for lunch and to see the Mysore palace. The Mysore palace is crowded but a must see. You will be amazed by the use and display of wealth in its building and decoration. Real gold leaf work, ivory inlays, rosewood furniture and cool and luxurious marble. If you have the time cover Chamundi hills, else pack in the  zoo. There are many restaurants around the palace to stop by for lunch Detours to the following places from Maddur via Malavalli (this is possible only if you are stopping over at Mysore overnight).

    Talakadu - an ancient temple town

    Rajiv Gandhi National park

    Drive on to the picturesque Titimatti village and keep going till you reach Virajpet, which is the second major town in Coorg. This is the slightly longer route but worth it if you wish to break your journey which you can at Siddapur. Much of Coorg is covered with pristine green forests and the heady air filled with the scent of spice and coffee is a balm to city weary lungs.
