IN THE MIDST OF TIGERS AND DEERS!!
Located in the foothills of the Himalayas is the majestic Corbett National Park.

Home to a variety of flora and fauna, it is famous for its wild population of Tigers, Leopards and Elephants. Corbett National Park was established in 1936, as the Hailey National Park . India 's first national park and the first sanctuary to come under Project Tiger, Corbett supports a variety of vegetation making it the ideal habitat for the tiger and its prey.

We stayed at Corbett Hideway on the bank of River Kosi, and surrounded by the jungle. It is the perfect place for naturalist and photographers. The resort has many activities to do apart from the finest dining in the area. Just to name a few, are the Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari. If you are lucky you can spot a tiger or leopard. However, you will definitely spot Chital, Sambar, and various other deer species.

These find refuge in the Savannah grasslands known as the Maidan, behind the campsite to the south, and tigers are occasionally drawn into the Maidan looking for prey. Two-hour elephant rides, explore this sea of grass, rarely penetrating far into the deep jungles beyond. Try to convince your Mahout or Elephant driver to venture in, as they can be quite magical. Come at dusk or dawn. In the heat of the day, you probably won't come across much more than deer among the tall grass. Tiger-sightings are few and far between, but you may be rewarded with fresh pug marks. To refresh yourself you can go for Bird Safari, Fishing Safari or the Nature Walk.

Memorable Munnar

OUR UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE AT MUNNAR

This was one holiday that went beyond the expectations we started with. It was first of all a very difficult endeavour to get a booking itself, especially during the Navarathiri holidays and secondly we could not decide on the mode of transport. However, with all such logistics out of the way, we still were apprehensive about what awaited us at Munnar. It could not have got any worse when we had to face the difficult evening drive from Cochin airport to Munnar brought about by thick fog reducing visibility to less than a few feet on the twisting and turning roads leading up to the resort.

We had heard a lot about Munnar as a place as well as the highly rated resort of Club Mahindra there. But, when we reached the place with a sigh of huge relief, all that we could think about was some food to eat and a nice sleep.

And how things changed from the next morning!!! We were treated to a near heavenly view of nature's beauty from the apartment, spanning the lush green tea gardens, a shimmering blue water body pleasantly greeting the eyes and the ghostly mountain range as a backdrop. We felt that we could easily spend the entire day just lazing away on the swing in front of the resort.

We ended up relaxing the whole day in the resort. The next day in the morning we booked a trip and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as we took a speedboat ride, watched mountain goats at close quarters, visited the Tea Museum and last but not the least, feasted on the scenic landscapes consisting of waterfalls and tea estates.

The following two days were all spent in the resort using the available facilities for leisure like indoor games as well as enjoying short treks around the resort. The well maintained and aesthetically decorated apartment felt very homely and comfortable and the staff treated us to top class service. Above all, the food at the sophisticated restaurant surprised us with the amount of variety and taste, the reasonable cost and the special offers, being a bonus.

When it was time to leave, our hearts felt heavy that it had come to an end so soon, the only consolation being we still would have the opportunity to go back a few times in the next decade as a Club Mahindra member.
