Want to escape from the hustle and bustle of your city and just unwind at an exotic holiday spot, but are left confused with the variety of options? Now search no more, as Himachal Pradesh could provide you with the perfect choice!

Mashobra, a quaint town in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, dates back to the 19th century and was built in the British era by Lord Dalhousie. Situated at an altitude of more than 7,000 feet above sea level, the town is surrounded by forests making this picturesque destination a favourite of
tourists. Located on one of Asia’s largest watersheds, with the Indus and Ganesh Rivers on either side, Mashobra is part of the Shimla Reserve Forest sanctuary and catchment area. The natural vegetation comprises forests of pine, oak, cedar, maple and chestnut trees as well as a variety of flowers that bring lively daubs of colour in contrast with the deep green of the surrounding foliage. The region is also rich in wildlife, with monkeys, baboons, jackals, barking deer and the occasional leopard as well as numerous bird species; Himalayan eagles, pheasants, chikor and partridges among others. An excellent getaway if you love nature, mountains and all forms of wildlife!

Mashobra is linked to the state capital Shimla through the historic Hindustan-Tibet Road, which was built in 1850 by Lord Dalhousie. It is also well known for housing one of the only two Presidential retreats in India, the other is the one at Bolarum in Andhra Pradesh. The President of India visits
Mashobra at least once every year.

For those who love the lively and adventurous side of life, a weekend getaway to this small town is the best bet. Whether with a group of friends or with family, Mashobra is a sheer delight, with reathtaking views and spectacular nature trails. A perfect place for nature trails and trekking, Mashobra provides you with the scenic beauty of the western Himalayas i.e., the Pir Panjal Range (the range of the iddle Himalayas stretching across the states of Jammu and Kashmir) as well as India’s second highest peak Nanda Devi, part of the Garhwal Himalayan range.
