Staying in a busy city can be hectic, to say the least. Deadlines to meet, assignments to complete, errands to run — all in the midst of crowded roads and transport — modern living can be monotonous and even frustrating. No wonder then that most of us welcome a holiday with open arms. Keeping this in mind, Mahindra Holidays has planned its latest camping holiday product, which they have christened Terra. –

Located 16km from Panchgani on the Bhilar – Akhegani road, between the villages of Ghoteghar and Akhegani, Terra is a hub of adventure and fun. The thatched-roof canvas tents will seem immediately appealing to those looking to experience the wild side of nature (but without the demerits). Equipped with all necessary amenities (including an attached toilet and bath), the tent are a great resting place after a day replete with activities.

Speaking of activities, there is really no end to fun-filled things to do at the Terra campsite. There are a number of adventure sports you can try your hand at — get into a zorb ball and feel the thrill running down your spine as it rolls down a slope, rough it out on a mountain biking tour, defy gravity with a climbing session, rappel (abseil) your way down a steep slope or emulate skilful acrobats in a zip lining session. If adventure activities are not much to your liking, opt for a guided nature walk — the greenery around is a treat to the eyes. The Terra experience is great for office trips too, what with specialised corporate programmes that include a commando course and a rope course (Burma Bridge, River Crossing, Flying Fox, etc.)

In the evenings, gather around the bonfire and meet other campers — music and good food add to the experience. Expert chefs whip up lip-smacking food, including barbeques that you can enjoy while sitting in the gazebos. You wouldn’t

mind gorging on all that after a day full of calorie-consuming adventure. Enjoy a deep, peaceful sleep in the tent, and next day, the adventure can start all over again. Terra is truly a wonderful and refreshing escapade — don’t be surprised if you want to keep returning once every few months. The Panchgani site is the first of many such campsites to come up across the country.
