Kangra is one of Himachal’s most beautiful valleys. It cascades down the southern edge of the magnificent Dhauladhar range. Its gentle, undulating slopes are covered with forests of pine, orchards, green tea gardens and terraced fields. This mountain range, also called the ‘white ranges’, rise upto 14000 feet, providing a dramatic backdrop to the hill resort of Dharamshala.

Dharamshala is the principal township of Kangra. Lower Dharamshala is a busy commercial centre, while upper Dharamshala, containing the charming suburbs of Mcleodganj and Forsythganj, retains the flavour of a colonial lifestyle. Upper Dharamshala has many fascinating places of interest, steeped in decades of history and culture. Mcleodganj houses an age-old Tibetan settlement with bustling bazaars that sell carpets, handicrafts and authentic Tibetan food.

Hence, Dharamshala is located in a mystic land surrounded by snow capped mountains and divine energy. Dharamshala has everything for a perfect holiday. The colonial origin, the Tibetan influence, vast tea gardens and the temples make Dharamshala an invigorating cocktail with a unique blend. Nestled amidst thick coniferous forests, Dharamshala is an archetypal getaway for jaded city souls. As you look up, the green fringes merge with the snow-clad mountains and as your eyes shift downwards, the vast panorama of the Kangra valley embraces you.

Winter in the Kangra Valley is enchanting. The snow line remains close enough at all times and during winter months, the northern part is swaddled in a blanket of freshly fallen snow, allowing the magic of Dharamshala to take on yet another hue.
