Dreaming of taking that much-need and long-awaited trip, but COVID-19 is holding you back? With adequate safety guidelines in place, you can take that trip! Relaxing at a sunny, sandy beach or trekking up a steep hill or soaking in nature’s gifts while on the road - it can still happen!

There is nothing more important than our health and the effort that goes into making sure we stay safe. Given the current scenario where the novel COVID-19 has made travelling a risky affair, we must follow certain guidelines and #TravelWithConfidence. Timely travel safety guidelines are being issued, and every individual must follow them. These safety guidelines are issued, keeping our health and security in mind. Here are some essential guidelines that we need to keep in mind while travelling during COVID-19 pandemic:

DOMESTIC TRAVELLERS

1) Aarogya Setu App has been made mandatory for every passenger to download on their mobile devices while travelling during the COVID-19 All travellers need to register themselves on the mobile application.

2) Pre-packed snacks and beverages may be provided on domestic flights.

3) What’s a road trip without a few food breaks? But while going on a road trip during COVID-19, you may want to rethink those stops. While travelling by car, plan your journey in such a manner that you take as little food and bathroom breaks as possible. This will help in avoiding interactions with other people apart from your friends and family as much as possible and allow for a safe travel

4) Timing is very important and while most of us are of the belief that reaching the airport a few hours earlier is helpful but that may not always be the case. If you are travelling by flight, take note of how early the airline expects you to arrive at the airport. Arriving too early or too late will cause unnecessary chaos and delay.

5) Whether it is inside the train or the airplane, respect the social distancing rules and avoid sitting on the seats marked with a cross or labelled ‘not for use’. This is to ensure that all passengers are maintaining safe distance from each other.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVELLERS

1) All travellers should submit a self-declaration form on the online portal (check here) at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel. Travellers who haven't provided the self-declaration form on the online portal, need to fill the same in-flight. A copy of the same will be given to Health and Immigration officials present at the airport/seaport/Iandport. Alternatively, such travellers may have to submit the self-declaration form on the online portal at arriving airport/seaport/Iandport as per the guidelines of the concerned authorities.

2) As per the safety guidelines issued, travellers need to give an undertaking stating they will undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days. It means seven days paid institutional quarantine at their own cost, followed by isolating themselves for another seven days at home while self-monitoring their health.

3) During onboarding and deboarding a flight during COVID-19, a thermal screening will be conducted. In case you are carrying any food items, make sure to keep it in a separate plastic bag and place it in the bin for screening. Personal items such as keys, wallets, watches and phones should be placed in carry-on bags instead of containers.

4) Pre-packed snacks and beverages, and hot meals on international flights will be provided.

5) Make sure you have traveller’s insurance.

General Safety Guidelines

1) Make sure to wear all the necessary protection gear (face masks, gloves, etc.) and keep a sanitizer (12 ounces) on your person at all times and safe travel. Coming in contact with various surfaces is inevitable but try as much as possible to limit such actions and use a sanitizer.

2) Clean, clean, clean! Wash your hands as often as possible. It's especially important after going to the bathroom, before and after eating, and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.

3) Social distancing is the need of the hour. Make sure to maintain at least 6 feet (2 arms distance) distance from another person. This will keep you and others safe.

4) Consider taking the virtual route. Whether it is to check into your flight or pay for your stay at the hotel/resort, do it online so that there is no physical exchange of information or cash.

5) If you are carrying food from home, carry your own cutlery too. It can be a reusable set that is easy to clean and store. If you are using tissues or paper napkins, dispose of them immediately. Disposable items restrict the chances of the virus being unknowingly spread around.

6) The resort/hotel/lodging you will be staying at will also be ensuring that all safety guidelines are given primary importance. But as a guest, you too will need to make sure that you maintain social distance and follow all necessary travel safety guidelines.
