It was the most memorable trip ever to visit Leh with my husband in the month of October 2022. We reached Delhi to Jammu by air and then after taking our SUV stationed at Jammu, we left for Srinagar the next day. After enjoying our stay in a houseboat, and visiting Gulmarg, we left for Kargil via Sonmerg on the 4th day.

Having some traffic advisory to avoid Kargil city due to some local protest, we drove ahead of it and stayed overnight at a small hill town Lamayuru which is about 65 KM before Leh and is on a height of whopping 12000 feet. Here we could feel the pressure of air and lack of oxygen for our lungs yet having it a new place and experience for us, we enjoyed our small stay at a local guest house.

Having enjoyed the warm ‘daal chawal’ (rice pulse) as dinner and bread omelet as breakfast, we left for Leh in the morning the next day. We were completely spellbound by the nostalgic beauty of nature around exclusively available in India as one the biggest treasures on earth.

As we entered the city of Leh, we could feel the peace and contentment in the air and amidst the local people struck by the most evident blessings of Budha in each one of them. Visiting highly located monasteries, relishing local and Tibetan food, shopping souvenirs, and Budha idols, and immersing into the tranquility and vibrancy of the region had all flown our time of 5 days stay at the Driftwood, Leh by Club Mahindra.

We were treated with a warm welcome and complete assistance at the resort which is located just below a beautiful hill. We flew back to Delhi on 7th October 2022 capturing the mesmerizing view of snow-capped Himalaya mountains from my window seat most of the pictures shared on Instagram by the name paruloninsta).
