The Northeastern states of India are one of the most spectacular places in India. The natural beauty of these states is truly incomparable. Snow-clad mountains, rugged terrains, cascading waterfalls, dense rainforests, exotic wildlife, and above all the ethereal calm and tranquillity define the beauty of these states. Amongst all the beautiful cities in the northeast, the one that deserves a special mention is Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim.

It is a place where modernity is perfectly juxtaposed with old-world charm. Not to mention, the magical natural surroundings and warm and welcoming locals make this city one of the best holiday destinations in India. While planning a holiday to this beautiful destination, you can enjoy exploring the various tourist places nearby, and get new experiences by booking a comfortable stay.

One of the best properties in Sikkim is Club Mahindra Le Vintuna which is just beside the river Ranikhola. The view of the rooms is very great. One can see the river flowing from his rooms. The rooms are very well maintained. I recommend you to look into my other 2 diaries viz Club Mahindra Baiguney and Club Mahindra Royal Demazong Gangtok for more clarities.

We have taken a vacation of 10 nights and my tour itinerary is as under

3 nights at Club Mahindra Baiguney 1 night at Le Vintuna, Gangtok 1 night at Club Mahindra Lachung 1 night at Lachen 3 nights at Club Mahindra Gangtok 1 night at Club Mahendra Silligudi Club Mahindra has either their own property or affiliated property at all these locations except Lachen. You can blindly follow this itinerary and believe me you can cover most of the tourist places of Sikkim with Club Mahendra. Now let's talk about what to do and places to visit keeping your base at Club Mahindra Gangtok.

1 Nathula Pass: Natula Pass is out of the world. We were at the right time to visit. Snow-capped mountains and valleys with small lakes in between make you skip a heartbeat. Watching Indian army men guarding our borders in such Harsh weather is always an exhilarating experience. A separate Permit is required for visiting this place. Our Club Mahendra Travel Desk is arranging the permission for the same at very reasonable rates.

2. M G Marg: Suggest visiting this place mostly in the evening. This is the most-happening place in the city of Gangtok.

3. Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial Temple We happened to visit this temple before covering the Nathu La Pass and were present around the same time a few army officers were. One of them came forward and delivered this exceptional Sikh sermon, venerating Baba Harbhajan Singh ji, whom this shrine is dedicated to. Despite my feeble understanding of the language, from what I could comprehend, it was one of the most moving and powerful things I'd heard. The place's got a very strong spirit and aura, so do pay your heartfelt respects. There's a magnificent tricolour standing tall, right beside the temple. Opposite to that, is the highest-ever Bholenath idol. (in terms of altitude ASL) The statue is breathtaking, and so is the picture-perfect scene before your eyes. Don't miss out on this place.

4 Ganesh Tok: This spot, 7km away from Gangtok, offers a bird's eye view of the town. There is a small temple of Lord Ganesh at this place. It is on a hillock on Gangtok-Nathula Road.

5 Hanuman Tok: At a vantage point that shows a great view of Gangtok, the Indian Army has done a splendid job of building and maintaining this Hindu temple devoted to Lord Hanuman. While the temple itself is neat and clean, there are little gardens that are a great sight to behold. However, my everlasting memory of visiting this temple will be the sight of the Kanchenjunga. It must be a point where the great mountain is thousands of kms away, but the sight is so imposing that it seems very close Truly a remarkable view which makes the visit more than worth it..

6 Tsomgo Lake: 38 km from Gangtok, Tsomgo Lake can be visited as part of a half-day sightseeing tour from Gangtok. No overnight accommodation is available and you must return to the Capital town by the evening. The famous lake of East Sikkim is known by many names. Commonly tourists refer to the lake as Changu. It takes about 2½ hours one way to reach by car. The word Tsomgo in Bhutia language means the source of a lake. The lake is about one kilometer long, 50ft deep, oval in shape, and is situated at an altitude of 3780 meters. The lake remains frozen throughout the winter up to April's end. Snowfall is also common in this area even during the summer months.

The place is a paradise for bird lovers with a large number of Blue Whistling Thrush, Redstarts and Forktails around. The Rhododendron flowers remain in full bloom during the months of April and May allowing breathtaking views to the visitors. The way to Tsomgo Lake is famous for a number of beautiful waterfalls. We visited this place in the month of April where all waterfalls were frozen. It was a beautiful place to visit. There is a cable cart and Yak ride attractions at Lake.

7 Himalayan Zoological Park: The zoo happens to be the best manicured of all the zoos we had ever seen. The entry ticket to the zoo is quite cheap. The zoo showcases a wide variety of animals, birds, insects, and reptiles..the museum attached to the zoo is a rare feast to the eyes. The park also rests rare species of trees like Peepli, the zoo houses a wide and rare range of birds and fishes, red pandas, cheetahs & other animals. The animals are well protected with clear guidelines for the visitors.

6 Tashi View Point: Tashi view point is a nice place to see the panorama of the north-east Himalayan ranges. One part see the city and another part see all the views. Here is also the telescope to see Seven sister waterfalls and other interesting points 8 Monastery and Hot Springs There are many monasteries and hot springs located in the region and you can choose based up on your interest.

9 Visit to Lachung and Lachen You can take 2 night 3 days tour keeping your base at Gangtok Resort. Club Mahindra offers associated property at Lachung. These both places are worth visiting. Lachen is one of the most picturesque remote hamlets in the North Sikkim Tour. Lachen is heavily blessed by Mother Nature with snow-capped mountain peaks, innumerable mountain streams, rolling meadows, and a serene sacred lake. Indeed, during your Lachen visit you will drive to the gateway of heaven – the majestic Gurudongmar Lake. In winter it's not less than Switzerland. That's why it is often called the Switzerland of the East. On the other hand, Lachung is also an offbeat destination, far away from the hues of modernization. It is a popular destination for those who love to spend quality time with nature. If you wish to explore the best of Sikkim, then a trip to Lachung is a must.

I fill this little town with nature's magnificence and glory. Whether you are a solo traveler or honeymoon couple, a nature lover, a photography person, or an adventure lover, you will definitely fall in love with this beautiful little hamlet. You can visit Yumthang Valley and Zero Point. The beauty of this place is such that it can melt hearts. Situated 3598m above sea level, this makes for a place where you may want to bask for hours. Far from the madding crowd, this place sits in the lap of nature and calls you to do the same. Whether solo or in group, Yumthang Valley is a destination for all.
