Welcome 2021 in these fun ways from home

2020 has been a challenging year for all of us! We hope you’ve got your party hats on to bring in the new year. You can plan a happening New Year bash, but safety first, isn’t it? So celebrating New Year’s Eve at home with your loved ones is a much safer option. Isn’t it? We have fun ideas planned for you to have a memorable celebration with your friends and family with the utmost safety and style. Read our blog to know these fun ideas and plan your eve right away!

We hope that 2021 gives you the best of happiness, good health, and most importantly, endless opportunities to explore the world!

New Year's Gift Exchange

It’s been a tough year for most people, so what better way to lift spirits than with exciting gifts that everyone can use on the first day of 2021? Make a guest list of friends or family that you’d like to invite for your New Year’s Eve party and make chits with each one’s name. A week before the party, have everyone draw a name and buy a gift for the person they get. You can even do this online. Everyone can then exchange gifts during the party as the clock strikes midnight on December 31. Pick a personalised gift like skincare for people who’ve had a particularly tough year and could use some pampering; a vacation package at a beautiful resort for people who’ve had to cancel their travel plans due to the pandemic; or a gym membership for those who’d like to begin the year on a healthy note. There’s so much you can gift, big or small, and this cute gesture is a sure-shot way to bring in 2021 with a huge smile!

Sing the Year Away

Karaoke night is just the thing for all the bathroom singers who’d like to showcase their talent before the year ends. Plus, you can’t ever go wrong with a fun night of singing your favourite songs! Organise a karaoke night on New Year’s Eve with friends and family, complete with snacks and drinks. If you can’t get your hands on a karaoke console, YouTube comes to the rescue. Stream songs and draw chits so everyone gets a turn, and you can sing and dance your way to the new year.

Make New Year Resolutions

With everyone’s hopes pinned on 2021, the year is sure to be one of meaningful resolutions! Instead of making new year resolutions by yourself this time, get together with your loved ones and plan your goals for the next year together. Ask everyone to buy a planner (there are tons of beautiful ones to choose from) or a simple notebook, and jot down a goal for each month of 2021. Pick a resolution for everyone to do together as well. You can plan a vacation at a beautiful resort (that’s following safety precautions), join a fitness club or bake together every month. Partner up so there’s someone who can push you to achieve your goals and vice versa. You’re also most likely to follow through with your resolutions when you have someone tracking them with you! A resolution activity on New Year’s eve, considering the pandemic, is an ingenious way to ring in next year on a hopeful note.

New Year's Eve Potluck

Most people have levelled-up their cooking skills this year, and what better than a New Year’s Eve potluck to feast on some delicious food? Organise a party and ask all the guests to whip up a delicious dish to bring along with them. This also takes some strain off hosting, so you can let loose and have just as much fun as everyone else! Of course, if a couple of guests can’t cook, they can always bring along the drinks or snacks. And if a potluck has you worrying about safety, you could all bake a cake together (wearing a mask and gloves) during the party and cut it at midnight!

Party Online

Worried about calling people home this New Year’s Eve? Have an online party with your loved ones! Everyone can set up a cute new year-themed backdrop and get some food ready. Video call your friends or family and play some music in the background. You can chat, play games, sing and dance, all in the safety of your home, and still have a great time. Definitely beats spending New Year’s Eve alone, right?

Family Night-In

If you’re planning a cosy night in with family for New Year’s Eve, indulge in some pampering and cook a 3-course meal, complete with DIY mocktails. You can stick to one cuisine or even whip up some family favourites. Decorate the house and set up a few candles (electric ones if you have kids). You could even organise some fun games like charades or watch a movie (don’t forget the popcorn!) Nothing beats a fun night at home with family!

New Year’s Eve at home doesn’t have to be boring, even if you’re concerned about safety. Call your friends home for a party and encourage social distancing, or cook with family. Whatever you do, don’t forget to stay safe and create memories for a lifetime. We hope that 2021 gives you the best of happiness, good health and, most importantly, endless opportunities to explore the world!
