Most of the airports operate international and domestic flights. Depending on your preferred airline, you can also pick the airport in Gujarat. Isn't that interesting?
One of the busiest airports in Gujarat, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, is also one of the biggest in the state. Located about 9 km from the main city, this stunning airport has three terminals.
Terminal 1 handles all domestic flights. Terminal 2 is specifically dedicated to international flights and has won the best steel structure award. Terminal 3 is for cargo operations. About 14 domestic and international airlines operate from this airport, and you can also take international flights from here to Dubai, London, Doha, Sharjah, New Jersey, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and more.
The Vadodara Airport is also commonly known as the Civil Aerodrome, and with only a single terminal, it currently does not have the capacity to handle a large number of passengers. However, considering the growing number of travellers using the airport, the Gujarat government is building a new terminal and expanding the services to cater to a greater number of domestic and international passengers.
The airport has many facilities for travellers, like shopping, medical services, cafeterias, etc. Also, since the airport is located close to the Vadodara railway station and popular tourist attractions in the city, like the Baroda Museum and ISCKON temple, it facilitates a hassle-free holiday experience for tourists.
One of the most popular airports in Gujarat is the Surat Airport. Once, it was under the direct control and command of the Gujarat State Government, but now the AAI (Airport Authority of India) has undertaken its management. After a lot of expansion and development work has been carried out at the airport, it now offers many essential services to travellers like ATMs, baggage counters, restaurants, cafés, and more.
Since it is a small airport, it has limited flight operations to specific cities in India, like Jaipur, Goa, Delhi, Hyderabad, Patna, and Kolkata.
One of the smallest airports in the state of Gujrat, this operates only domestic flights to a few important cities, namely, Surat, Delhi, Goa, Bangalore, Pune, Indore and Mumbai. The airport has a capacity of handling 125 passengers traffic, and now only two airlines in the country operate their flights here, i.e., Air India and IndiGo. Earlier, before it got shut down, Jet Airways also operated flights to this airport in Rajkot.
Since the airport is located close to popular tourist destinations in the city, like the Watson Museum and Kaba Gandhi No Delo, it serves as a perfect gateway to the city for both the local residents and tourists.
Jamnagar is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Gujarat, and many people from all over the world come to this beautiful and quintessential Gujarati city for pilgrimage. It is one of the few airports in the state that is owned by the Indian Air Force, and it permits both commercial and private flight operations.
Although the airport is small in size, it has good facilities for the travellers like a cafeteria and lounge. Since the airport is located close to the city vicinity, you can easily explore the popular attractions in the city as soon as you land here. Also, you can easily find many travel options outside the airport, which makes exploring the city easy and hassle-free.
Many locals in Kandla call the Kandla Airport the Gandhidham Airport. This airport was built during the 1950s, and by the 60s, many commercial flight operations had started. Earlier, there were regular flight operations between Kandla and Mumbai to facilitate cargo movement from this important port city. But in 2012, all the operations were stopped.
Today, the Kandla airport has a single runway and terminals and has a limited capacity to handle not more than 100 passengers at a time. However, the airport has other facilities like duty-free shops.
A popular city in Gujarat, Porbandar is known for being the birthplace of the father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It is also known for being an important seaport destination on the western coast of India.
The airport in the city is not the biggest one, but it caters to a lot of travellers coming to Porbandar for tourism. The airport has a limited capacity to handle only about 100 passengers at a time. But it has other added facilities for the convenience of travellers, like baggage facilities, shops, and cafeterias.
The Porbandar airport also has limited flight operations to specific cities like Diu, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi and Bangalore. When you land at the airport, you can easily find many local transport options, allowing you to make your way into the city and reach your destination.
