Recently, about a few months back, Madikeri suffered heavy rain and flooding which resulted in severe loss of infrastructure and housing. Natural disasters are inevitable and can be extremely unpredictable. They can destroy settlements, create housing problems and lead to loss of lives. These are situations and circumstances that are heart breaking and difficult to deal with as individuals and even as a community. With numerous companies, individuals and people reaching out to everyone in Kerala, we hope there has been some relief. We, at Club Mahindra, took up a few initiatives that could go into helping the residents and their families.
Our team resiliently helped various families to evacuate the flooded areas, rescuing some of these people at crucial points and out of dire situations. These families were then settled in temporary camps and shelters where they could stay safe and sound till the environment improved. The landslide had resulted in intense damage to houses and property in Madikeri which left people without food and shelter. Due to this, the Government of India started relief camps all over the city, one of which had a provision for more than 350 people. Club Mahindra was involved in the relief programme from day one and our volunteers helped the Government by providing all three meals with both AMT and PMT sent to this camp. We sent across volunteers to serve food to the people who were recuperating and recovering. Breakfast items like Idli along with tea kept the people in these camps satisfied. Lunch and dinner was a healthy meal of rice, vegetables, dal and rasam to help them recover faster and gain the strength they need to take medicines.
Blankets were disturbed at the centre and immense care was taken to ensure that everyone could get the best out of whatever was allocated to this centre. Our staff showed incredible support and empathy while helping out at the centre and was more than eager to give back to the society with arms open. A few guests visited the relief camp to help out as well. Club Mahindra has always tried its level best to provide to the society and remain on top of things whenever there is problem to eradicate or a solution to be provided. Our customers are our most valued asset and providing aid to the Zila Panchayat Centre was truly a humbling experience for our company. We hope that our help was indeed worthwhile and brought about a little change in a positive direction.
Hope that tourism in Coorg blooms to new heights after the relief.
