Got young kids at home all day due to the coronavirus lockdown? With all educational systems shut, this can be difficult for any parent who now needs to find a balance between spending ample time with the children, getting work done around the house and have some time to oneself as well. Moreover, most kids love the outdoors and since that is not an option anymore, it can make them sad really quick. In such difficult times, it is necessary to find ways to keep children happy and maintain their daily routines to provide a sense of normalcy.

There is an endless list of movies that you can enjoy with kids - they are fun family activities! Lion King, The Jungle Book, Frozen & Frozen 2, Moana, Toy Story series, Finding Nemo, Coco or maybe even introduce them to Harry Potter! While these animated movies are meant for the kids, parents love to watch them too. Cherish this time together during the coronavirus lockdown and make the most of it. Play games with your children - teach them what you played as a child and learn about all the new ones that they get to enjoy today. Since you have to stay home, take part in fun indoor activities. One of the most common games to play with them is ‘Play Pretend’ and sometime while playing the game, your character will come naturally to you and you will end up really enjoying yourself!
The coronavirus lockdown has resulted in schools being closed for months on an end. For the younger kids, it may not seem that bad but they still need to learn. Teachers tend to use methods or tools that gets kids to learns new things and have fun at the same time. You can do the same by converting a topic into a game, create flashcards using colourful paper and pens or making songs or jingles to make it easier to learn something.
One of the fun activities for kids is cooking with their parents. If it involves baking something sweet, they know that they are getting to lick the leftover batter in the bowl. Obviously, keep them away from hot or sharp items but get them involved like making their own pizza, decorating their own cupcakes, pouring in an ingredient into the pan or bowl, mixing all the ingredients or even just pressing ‘start’ on the blender.

Keep the kids occupied by giving them household chores and then acknowledging their effort when they complete the tasks. It makes them feel a sense of accomplishment and that does bring a smile on their faces. If they want to help you while cooking or cleaning, give them smaller, simpler tasks and thank them for their help. If they suggest something, even if it is something silly, take it into consideration rather than laughing it off because they will feel valued and important. These little acts can really help in keeping kids happy.
Stay home and stay happy!
