Adventurers and thrill-seekers from around the globe have descended upon Vagamon, Kerala, as the International Paragliding Festival kicked off.
Promising adrenaline-pumping excitement and breathtaking aerial displays, running from March 14th till March 17. This festivity is hailed as India's largest aero sports adventure festival, drawing enthusiasts and spectators alike to witness the beauty and thrill of paragliding against the stunning backdrop of the Western Ghats.

Vagamon, renowned for its picturesque landscapes and favorable weather conditions, provides the perfect setting for this exhilarating event. Organized by the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) under the Department of Tourism and the Idukki District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), the festival aims to promote adventure tourism in the region while showcasing India's potential as a premier destination for aero-sports enthusiasts.
Participants, from more than 15 countries ranging from seasoned professionals to novices, have converged on Vagamon to partake in a myriad of activities including tandem paragliding, solo flights, acrobatics, and competitions. Around 100 paragliders will compete at the event. The festival offers a unique opportunity for enthusiasts to soar high above the lush green valleys, cascading waterfalls, and mist-clad hills, experiencing the unparalleled thrill of free flight.
Spectators are also in for a treat as they gather to witness the colorful spectacle of paragliders dotting the sky like graceful birds, performing awe-inspiring maneuvers and stunts. Alongside the adrenaline-fueled action, the festival features cultural programs, food stalls offering local delicacies, and opportunities for attendees to interact with experienced pilots and learn more about the sport.
The International Paragliding Festival at Vagamon not only promises an unforgettable adventure experience but also serves as a platform for promoting sustainable tourism and environmental conservation. As the International Paragliding Festival kick-starts the adventure tourism calendar of Kerala, several other festivals are in the line. The International Surfing Festival of Varkala is scheduled to begin on March 29 and will continue till March 31 followed by the International Mountain Terrain Biking Championship from April 26 to April 28 at Mananthavady in Wayanad. The Malabar River Festival at Chaliyar will begin on July 25 and will end on July 28. These festivals are sure to attract a great deal of adventure lovers from around the globe making Kerala top the travel list.
