There are many national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in Madhya Pradesh that are home to many rare species of flora and fauna and a perfect place to see wildlife in their natural environment.  

We have put together a list of six best wildlife sanctuaries in Madhya Pradesh that everyone must visit. 

Bandhavgarh National Park

One of the most exotic wildlife destinations in India, Bandhavgarh National Park is spread over 437 square kilometres at the base of the Vindhya Hills. The lush greenery of the park that consists mainly of Sal trees is a perfect haven for many wild animals. However, the major attraction for the tourists here are the 25 Royal Bengal tigers; there are many jeep safaris that are hosted here throughout the day that take you deep in the heart of the forest.  

During your ride you may spot bears, hyenas, jackals, Indian fox, and leopards. The national park is also home to many exotic and rare species of birds that you wouldn’t find anywhere in India.  

Kanha National Park 

A popular wildlife sanctuary in MP, it is known for its contribution to the protection of many endangered wildlife species that were about to be extinct. The park authorities undertake many meticulous measures to keep the animals protected from illegal poachers. 

The lush greenery of the forest, the serene environment and the sights of the rare wildlife animals at the park was the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel, ‘The Jungle Book,’ which is also made into a cartoon series and movie. 

Kuno National Park 

One of the most renowned wildlife sanctuaries in Madhya Pradesh, it is one of the few places in India that is home to the endangered Asiatic Lions. The sanctuary, spread over a huge area is one of the best hidden gems in the Vindhyan Hills and a safe haven for many flora and fauna.  

The calm and serene wilderness of the place makes it one of the best places to visit in Madhya Pradesh.You can take a jungle safari inside the national park to get up close and personal with the wildlife and if you are lucky you may spot the king of the Jungle – Lions. The safari starts early in the morning from 6 AM and ends at 9.30 AM. There is another batch in the evening that starts at 4.30 PM and ends at 6 PM. 

Satpura National Park

Satpura National Park is also commonly referred to as Satpura Tiger Reserve. Located in the Hoshangabad district, the national park gets its name from the Satpura Range. The major attraction at the park for the tourists is the Tiger. But you can also find many other wild animals like giant squirrels, leopards, sloth bears, Indian gaur and many more. This National park was remains closed for tourists between July and September during the monsoon season.

Panha National Park

Located in the Panha district of Madhya Pradesh, it is one of the most popular wildlife parks in Madhya Pradesh and an important tiger reserve in India. It is the best place to spot some of the most exotic wildlife of India, including the Royal Bengal Tigers that roam around the jungles here freely in their natural habitat. The national park also houses many other wild animals, including sloth bears, Indian wolves, leopards, foxes, porcupines and antelopes.  

Singhori Wildlife Sanctuary

Spread over a total area of 288 square kilometres, this wildlife sanctuary is home to many beautiful wildlife species, valleys, plateaus and wonderful hills. Apart from the wildlife safari that takes you on a ride in the heart of the jungle to see the wild animals from close, there are other attractions inside, including the Jamgarh Caves, Choukigarh Fort, and Bhandariya Temple, all of which make for an excellent place for clicking a few stunning pictures.
