Originally made using chicken legs, Chicken Cafrael originated from Portuguese colonies in Africa. The dish became a part of the Goan cuisine as it was brought to the Indian shores by the Portuguese and African soldiers who served under the Portuguese. The original dish was shallow fried and usually served with potato and lime wedges.
