Food is something that brings people together. It can bring a smile on someone’s face, make someone forget about today’s sorrow just to savour the moment or create an aura of merriment and joy. Now, this can happen while you are spending a few hours in the kitchen preparing dishes for your loved ones or watching others narrate about their love affair with food.
One of the most obvious ways to stay entertained during the COVID-19 lockdown has been binge-watching moves and show on Netflix. One genre that everyone seems to love is food and its different appearances in different countries all over. Hosted by James Dean award-winning chef, David Chang, the show takes you on a gastronomical journey around the world. Ugly Delicious is the perfect combination of travel, cooking and stories. Each episode discusses a different popular food from around the world and what makes it so special. As if the food isn’t enough to keep you glued to your screens, David Chang is like the icing on the cake whose hosting and interacting skills will definitely win you over. If you don’t mind watching foreign language shows, Midnight Diner should be next on your must-watch list of shows on Netflix. It’s a fictional show about a small diner situated in Shinjuku, Tokyo that operates only during the night. The chef and bartender (known as The Master) has a small menu to offer but if the customer makes a special request, he prepares the dish providing he has the ingredients. Each episode is about a different customer, his/her dish and what trouble he/she must be facing in life. The Master is there to offer advice while he prepares the meal and serves it to the customer. It is a simple, light-hearted show that foodies will love binge-watching.
Craving for something sweet? Time to give that craving a crazy twist with Zumbo’s Just Desserts! Adriano Zumbo is an Australian pâtissier and chef, known in the food industry for being the ‘Godfather’ or ‘Dark Lord’ of pastries. His sweet creations are known for being outlandish and over-the-top. Zumbo’s Just Desserts is a cooking show where contestants put their best foot forward to create something sweet and impress Adriano Zumbo and Rachel Khoo, the judges.

The first original documentary show on Netflix, Chef’s Table is a treat to your sight and your soul. Through the 6 seasons, every episode focuses on a different chef from around the world and his/her culinary journey.
