At Club Mahindra, we curate the most unique and innovative experiences for families. Our insight into what makes guests tick allows us to offer an array of activities and excursions best suited for each one. Adventure buffs, culture vultures, history geeks, wellness gurus… No matter what your travel appetite is, we’ve got something for you.
For those planning a staycation during the charming monsoon season, why not head to our beautiful resort in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand? Opt for signature experiences that you’ve never seen or heard before. You will discover one such experience that brings all the thrills and chills!
The Lambi Dehar Mines are situated on the outskirts of Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, some 10 km from Library Chowk, Mall Road. It might take you a bit of travelling to get there, but the wait is well worth it, trust us. Not too far away from scenic picnic spots like Hathipaon, George Everest, stand the grizzly and foreboding mines. Dilapidated and moss-covered, they appear to be right out of a scary story.
Now, remember, this visit is meant for families with a spirit for the spooky. The ones who love good-old horror tales, horror-themed parks, haunted houses, and the like. Suffice to say, children below the age of 12 should not be included in this tour. Similarly, this is not meant for the faint-hearted. But for those with a keen interest in legends, you’re in for a real treat.
You’ll have a paranormal expert/guide to take you through the mines, explain the epic folklore that surrounds it, and answer any questions that you may have. Entry is free and the exploration time is approximately 2 hours, so you can expect a lot of goosebumps.
It is believed that the Lambi Dehar Mines are cursed.
The haunting goes all the way back to the year 1990, when as many as 50,000 mine workers died an untoward death due to wrongful mining practices. Ever since this tragedy unfolded, villagers have reported strange instances in and around the property.
Of course, there are some legends that go back several centuries even. There are just so many tales waiting to jump out at you! Who’s to say which is true, and which is make-believe? One thing’s for sure, though, the land is a real-life mystery. Which is why it’s one of the spookiest places in Uttarakhand.
The misty and foggy atmosphere of Mussoorie, coupled with the inevitable thunder and lightning of the monsoon season, makes this a particularly exciting and bone-chilling excursion to embark upon. And so, we’d recommend the hill station as one of the best places to visit in July.
The Lambi Dehar Mines definitely won’t disappoint. Glimpse walls made out of limestone and old hanging trolly stands. Did you know that this is one of the many places that inspired author Ruskin Bond’s ghost stories? How cool is that?!
There’s something so fun, daring and adventurous about venturing into the unknown. And with Club Mahindra’s friendly and knowledgeable guides at your disposal, you can focus on the experience and let go of the logistics.
Lambi Dehar Mines tour in Mussoorie is an experience you’re likely to never forget. So, rather than watching a film or reading a book, experience a ghost story played out in real time. Mussoorie, Uttarakhand is more than just an idyllic town, it’s a destination full of surprises.
