  • Have a blanket fort picnic

As kids, we have all made cozy blanket forts and spent hours in there playing and talking to our friends. With the weather so cold outside from the rain, who wouldn’t want to snuggle inside a warm blanket? Grab some chairs, blankets, and pillows and build a blanket fort. This activity should keep your kids busy. After they’re all done, you can treat them to a warm cup of hot chocolate. They can sit inside their blanket fort with their cuppa and watch the rain drops falling from the window. It is one of the best rainy day activities for kids that you can join in too.

  • Play board games

So what if you can go out and play? You can always play indoors! There are so many board games to enjoy on a rainy day. Scrabble, Ludo, Uno, Othello--there are many options to choose from. You can turn a rainy day into a game day for kids. Invite their friends over and conduct board game tournaments to keep them busy. Your entire family can join in the fun. If you don’t have many board games at home, that’s not a problem. Your kids can play many rainy day games without boards or other material. You can play Dumb Charades, Two Truths & a Lie, The Floor is Lava, Never Have I Ever, Hide and Seek, and more.

  • Cook with the kids

Kids need to put their energy somewhere, so why not put it into something that will be useful for them in the long run? Cooking is a skill that every adult should learn. Start your kids young. You can get them to help you in the kitchen. Involve them in the entire process. You can pick something easy that the kids can make without messing up the kitchen. You can start with something easy, like a sandwich. Guide them through the process. Keep the ingredients ready and let them arrange the sandwich on their own. This will give them a sense of accomplishment and make them feel like they made it all by themselves with little help from you.

  • Make an obstacle course

If you have younger kids, this is one of the best rainy day activities they can indulge in. Find things around the house and scatter them to build an obstacle course. You can get really creative with this one. You can use miscellaneous objects lying around the house. Use pillows, cushions, stools, cardboard boxes, chairs, and more to create an obstacle course at home. You can make your own rules! The kids can jump through the obstacles, crawl through some, and get creative with clearing the obstacle course.

  • Treasure hunt

If you have some time on your hands, here’s a fun rainy day activity for the entire family. You can create a treasure hunt with hints scattered around the house. You can divide the family members into various teams and get them to find clues that lead to the final treasure. This activity won’t just keep them busy but will also require them to think in a strategic way too.

  • Make Art

Whether it is drawing, colouring, painting, or indulging in arts and crafts, these activities are time-consuming and will keep your kids busy on a rainy day. Give them a canvas, some paint, and let their imaginations go wild! Art is an integral part of a kid’s growing up process. You can also create art from waste. Waste cardboard boxes, paper, plastic, and other material can be used to create beautiful artworks.

There are so many activities for the days when it rains that your kids can enjoy in the comfort of your home. Apart from the ones mentioned in the list above, you can also create your own fun rainy day games and play those. Let your imagination run wild, and have a great monsoon season with your family and kids!
