Celebrating the vibrant tapestry of cultures, landscapes, and experiences that make each country unique and alluring, National Tourism Day is being observed around India. As India strives to recover from the challenges of the past, this day serves as a reminder of the intrinsic value of tourism in fostering understanding, economic growth, and global cooperation.
One of the key themes of National Tourism Day 2024 is the promotion of sustainable tourism. It marks a renewed emphasis on sustainable travel practices by preserving the natural wonders and reducing the environmental impact.Â
Club Mahindra, a prominent player in the hospitality industry, has emerged as a trailblazer in promoting sustainability and eco-tourism initiatives. With a commitment to responsible tourism practices, Club Mahindra has integrated sustainability into its operations, setting a benchmark for the industry.Â
Let’s take a look at Club Mahindra’s initiatives that make it stand at the forefront of sustainable tourism!Â
Green Resorts

Club Mahindra committed to preserving the natural ecosystems has taken up the initiative of transforming 11 of its resorts into 'Green Resorts' with prestigious Platinum ratings from the IGBC. Setting a commendable example in the hospitality industry, Green Resorts will illustrate the coexistence of luxury, comfort, and responsible tourism contributing to the preservation of our planet for future generations. Club Mahindra’s goal is to achieve this status for every resort by FY’25.Â
Solar EnergyÂ

By setting up energy-efficient infrastructure Club Mahindra focuses on reducing its carbon footprint. With 22 resorts already harnessing solar power, the company aims to generate a staggering 4.7 mWp of solar energy, accounting for 41% of their total energy requirements by FY ’24.Â
Water Conservation

Club Mahindra's water conservation initiatives demonstrate its commitment to sustainable practices. Through innovative measures like rainwater harvesting, efficient irrigation systems, and water-saving fixtures, the company aims to reduce water consumption across its properties. Six of their resorts have already achieved water security, while two more are on track to do so by FY ‘24. Two of Club Mahindra’s resorts boast net-zero water consumption, which is indeed a remarkable achievement in sustainable water management.
Zero-waste-certified

By implementing comprehensive waste management practices, including segregation at source, composting, recycling, and various other measures Club Mahindra aims to achieve zero waste. Ten of Club Mahindra resorts have been zero-waste certified, with the rest scheduled to achieve this certification by FY ‘24.
Safeguarding biodiversity

Club Mahindra believes in safeguarding biodiversity and supporting the resilience of local flora and fauna. The company’s tree-planting initiative is a cornerstone of its commitment to environmental sustainability. Enhancing the beauty and biodiversity of the surrounding landscapes, Club Mahindra has planted over five lakh trees since FY’11 with three of its resorts at Assonora, Madikeri, and Virajpet being in the forefront.Â
EP 100 & RE 100 Initiatives

Club Mahindra's commitment to sustainability extends to its participation in global initiatives like EP100 and RE100. As a member of EP100, the company pledges to double its energy productivity by implementing energy-efficient measures across its properties. The company plans to achieve this through innovative measures like solar panels, heat pumps, and energy-efficient systems. Their RE100 initiatives include a range of sustainable practices, from outdoor solar lights to thermodynamic solar heating, micro wind turbines, and hydro turbines.Â
Finding comfort in sustainabilityÂ

Club Mahindra ensures a comfortable and sustainable stay for its guests through a range of eco-conscious initiatives. From replacing geysers with heat pumps to incorporating BLDC fans, LED lights, inverter ACs, and occupancy sensor-controlled lighting, every aspect of the guest experience is designed with sustainability in mind. At Club Mahindra, guests can relax knowing their stay minimizes environmental impact without compromising on luxury.
 Cultural ExperiencesÂ

Club Mahindra enriches its guests' experiences with a string of culturally immersive activities. From culinary workshops showcasing local cuisines to traditional dance performances and craft demonstrations, guests are invited to mélange in the vibrant cultures of their destinations at every Club Mahindra Resort. By embracing these experiences, guests not only create lasting memories but also gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultures that make each destination unique.
In essence, Club Mahindra's celebration of National Tourism Day 2024 is a testament to its commitment to promoting sustainable travel practices and fostering a deeper appreciation for the world's diverse cultures and natural wonders.
