Although not many of us have tried it yet, there are surprisingly numerous places where you can try bungee jumping in India. Most bungee jumping destinations in India are located outdoors but you can also find them in amusement parks.

While it has been thrilling the world for many years now, bungee jumping in India is a new adventure sport. Rishikesh, Uttarakhand

The resorts in Uttarakhand may be oases of peace and contemplation, but Rishikesh has an adventurous streak that belies its spiritual connect. Here, breathless screams of thrill and excitement pierce the peaceful environs of Mohan Chatti village at regular intervals. Jumpin Heights offers the highest independent bungee jumping in India. It is run by ex-army officers, with trainers from New Zealand who ensure complete safety while you enjoy the thrill of jumping off a high platform. The cantilever platform juts out over an 83-metre-high rocky cliff face to offer you the ultimate rush of adrenaline with a controlled free fall.

Lonavala, Maharashtra

If you need a break from Mumbai’s hectic pace to do something exhilarating, you do not have to go far. Lonavala’s Della Adventures is an adventurous playground for intrepid thrill seekers. It is one of the country’s largest adventure parks and one of the safest places in India to go bungee jumping. Instead of a fixed platform, you jump off a hanging platform that is raised from the ground level. At 45 metres high, it may not be the highest bungee jump in India, but it is adventurous, nonetheless. You even receive a certificate at the end of your jump.

Bengaluru, Karnataka

Ozone Adventures is the place to be if you want to fall from a great height only to be pulled back at the last possible moment. There are multiple Club Mahindra resorts in Karnataka, so you can plan your bungee jumping adventure for your next holiday in Bengaluru. At 130 feet, the jump may be short, but the thrill is immeasurable. They have all the recommended safety measures in place and implement them strictly. Only those who meet the age and weight criteria are allowed to jump. This is one of the most fun things you can do in Bengaluru.

Goa

Goa is one of the most thrilling bungee jumping destinations in India. The next time you book one of the Club Mahindra resorts in Goa, be sure to check out bungee jumping at Gravity Adventure Zone on Anjuna Beach. This is a unique bungee experience as the ocean makes for a beautiful backdrop for your jump. The jumping platform hangs from a crane 25 metres above the ground, which is a good height if it is your first jump. Since Anjuna Beach offers other, water-based adventure activities as well, you can easily spend a day filled with thrills and excitement.

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur is one of the unlikeliest places in India to go bungee jumping. It may well likely be one of those hidden treasures of Indian tourism. Jagdalpur is known for its natural attractions such as the Chitrakote Falls, Tirathgarh Waterfall, Kangar Valley National Park, and Kutumsar Caves. But at 30 metres high, this is one of the highest bungee jumping points in India. October to March is the recommended time to visit Jagdalpur for bungee jumping. Minimum age requirement is 14 years, and you must agree to follow all the safety procedures they have put in place before you jump.

Delhi

The country’s capital is not known for its adventurous streak. A holiday in Delhi is more of a historical and cultural exploration. But Wanderlust, located at Lodi Gardens, have taken it upon themselves to put Delhi on the adventure map of India. The 170-foot-high bungee jump is a thrilling dive into thin air. If you pay extra, you can get a certificate, cap and t-shirt which say “I did it!” If bungee jumping doesn’t satiate your hankering for adventure, Wanderlust also offers ziplining, paintball battles and adventure towers. But our pick is the bungee jump which offers a real rush.

A few things can match the thrill of stepping off into the void trusting a thin rope tied to your ankles. But bungee jumping has become a firm favourite of adventure seekers in India.
