Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) all geared up for this first-ever helicopter services for Adi Kailash and Om Parvat.

Uttarakhand, renowned for its sacred pilgrimage sites nestled amidst the majestic Himalayas, has unveiled a significant advancement in its tourism infrastructure with the introduction of helicopter services catering to the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat yatra. These holy sites, revered by Hindus and trekkers alike, are now more accessible than ever before, marking a significant milestone in the facilitation of pilgrimage tourism in the region.

Adi Kailash and Om Parvat both offer devotees a spiritually enriching journey amidst serene surroundings. However, the rugged terrain and high altitude have posed challenges for many pilgrims, limiting accessibility and deterring some from embarking on this revered pilgrimage.

The helicopter services introduced under the Uttarakhand government's Heli Darshan scheme to these sacred sites marks a turning point in pilgrimage tourism in Uttarakhand. This initiative not only addresses the accessibility concerns but also enhances the overall pilgrimage experience, allowing devotees to embark on a journey of faith with greater comfort and convenience. Moreover, it opens up these remote destinations to a wider spectrum of travelers, who may have previously found the trek challenging.

As per reports, the inaugural helicopter flight saw more than 10 pilgrims embarking on a journey, marking a milestone in accessibility. The pilgrims that took the flight were part of the inaugural run of the scheme, which is currently in its experimental phase.

If successful, the service will operate five days a week starting from next month.  Scheduled from April 15th to May 1st, 2024, and resuming in November until March, this groundbreaking helicopter yatra aims to redefine the pilgrimage experience opening up to awe-striking aerial views and comfortable travel options.
