You may have seen or heard of this ancient group of caves in Aurangabad, as these caves are the first and one of India's most famous UNESCO heritage sites. These caves are of great historical significance, dating back to the 2nd Century BC, and hold some of the most exquisite Buddhist sculptures and paintings. The place is a haven for history buffs and architecture lovers as you can find many Jataka Tales that are a sight to behold. Â

If Indian temples and ancient art fascinate you, the Khajuraho group of temples will leave you entranced within seconds. The sculptures in these temples are an excellent depiction of the various human emotions, and there are carvings of various Hindu and Jain deities.
There are a group of about 20 temples, and each has its unique charm and exquisite carvings. If you are on a spiritual journey or looking to awaken your spiritual sense, you must visit the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple, an important site of worship dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Home to the famed one-horned Rhinos, and a wide range of other exotic flora and fauna, Kaziranga is one of the most famous UNESCO sites in India. Whether you are a wildlife lover or not, you must visit this place to learn about India's topographical diversity.
You can take a jungle safari inside the forest, which would take you deep inside the forest and enjoy spotting the Rhinos, wild Buffaloes, wild Elephants, swamp deer, otters, king cobra, and if you are lucky, you may also spot a Royal Bengal Tiger and Leopards.

A perfect blend of spirituality and architectural excellence, Rani Ki Vav is an inverted temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Boasting a stepped corridor, it features some of the most exquisite stone carvings and sculptures you will find anywhere in India. Just the sheer sight of the structure will leave you entranced. The seven levels of wells have their own mythological and religious importance that will leave you intrigued and mesmerised.
As you descend towards the well, you will walk along the pillared pavilions, you can see more than 800 sculptures, and when you finally reach the water level, you will find carvings of Sheshashayu Vishnu.

As the name suggests, the temple is dedicated to Lord Sun or Surya Devta in Odisha. It is an architectural marvel and one of the most ancient structures in India. If you observe closely, you will notice that the temple stands on the 24 intricately carved stone wheels that act as sundial clocks and tell you the precise timing. It is one of the best UNESCO heritage sites in India, where you can explore the most beautiful Kalinga architecture amongst the various sculptures at the temple.Â
