Time for a history lesson. Not just any history lesson, but one that takes you to the frontier of all the magic. The Moorish Palace of Alhambra is an exquisite fortress, belonging to the Moorish monarchs of Granada, Spain. The outer walls of the grand structure were built with tapia, red earth. This is precisely where the inspiration for the name came from, for it is an Arabic translation of “the red”.

The Alhambra is nestled in a quaint locale that exudes rare natural beauty. The palace complex was designed, keeping in mind the integrity of the mountains and nearby surroundings. What makes this site so special is that it sits on a plateau that overlooks the Albaicín quarter of Granada’s Moorish old city. At the base of the plateau, the peaceful Darro River flows through a deep ravine, running north. Just outside the palace, is a spectacular park. Here, you will find gleaming oranges, bright roses and myrtles.  Do marvel at the dense wood of English elms, brought in by the Duke of Wellington in the year 1812.

Parents and children, both, will greatly revel in the charm of this place. Moorish poets have described the palace as "a pearl set in emeralds", a perception formed by the colour of its buildings and the woods around them. For an experience to cherish for a lifetime, we’d highly recommend this tour!
