Cherai is a year-round destination, really. However, if you prefer things cool, try visiting between October and March as the beach will be moderate to chilly during this time. However, if you want to celebrate Kerala’s biggest festival – Onam, then you should try visiting in August-September. And, if you want to see the Pooram or the festival where the annual elephant procession is held, then you should be visiting in January-February.
