Home to 44 Mugger Crocodiles, this Centre is responsible for the breeding of these behemoths in order to later release them into the wild to replenish their numbers. Apart from these crocodiles, the larger biosphere is also home to many other nature reserves such as Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary, Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary, Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary and Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve which you can visit when you Visit the Crocodile Farm. These tropical forests are home to rare animals such as Tigers, Elephants, Sloth Bears, Nilgiri Tahr, Gaur, Sambars, Barking Deer, Indian Porcupines and Malabar Squirrels. The Biosphere reserve is also inhabited by many tribal settlements, amounting up to a total population of 3,000. These communities rely majorly on the biological resources for their survival.
