Dwarka was the abode of Lord Krishna according to the great epic Mahabharata. Situated on the banks of the Gomti river, Dwarka is a paradise whether you are a pilgrim, a traveller or a historian. There are many places to see at Dwarka. However, your holiday with your parents and kids is incomplete if you don’t Visit the Ancient Dwarkadhish Temple. Also known as the Jagat Mandir, the temple is obviously dedicated to Lord Krishna.

According to traditional folklore, the original temple was built over Hari-Griha, the residence of Lord Krishna by his grandson, King Vajranabha. It was destroyed by Mahmud Begada in the 14th century and rebuilt in the 15-16th century. Made up of limestone and sand, the temple is one of the important Moksha Dhams of India. The five-storey temple stands majestically on 72 pillars. On one side, there are fifty-six steps leading to the Gomti river. The temple spire is 78.3 metres high. Elaborate sculptures adorn the temple. When you are holidaying at a Club Mahindra resort in Dwarka, you must Visit the Ancient Dwarkadhish temple.

The morning aarti at the temple is really early at around 6.30 am and the temple is open to devotees until 1.00 pm in the afternoon. There are certain rules that need to be followed when you Visit the Ancient Dwarkadhish temple. Some items such as mobile phones, cameras etc are not allowed in the temple premises. We suggest you check for all rules and timings beforehand. Of course, if you are travelling with your parents, do make sure you carry additional bottles of water and refreshments.
