The Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple stands as a beacon of spirituality and tradition. This temple in Kerela is renowned for its intricate architecture and divine aura and is a must-visit for those exploring temples in Kerala. It combines rich history and sacred tales, making it a special temple for both pilgrims and tourists.

Many ancient Hindu texts, such as the Vishnu Purana, Brahma Purana, Matsya Purana, Varaha Purana, Skanda Purana, Padma Purana, Vayu Purana, Bhagavata Purana, and the Mahabharata, mention the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. It is also referenced several times in the literature of the Sangam period.

Religious Significance of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple:

•    A prime example of Dravidian architecture, showcasing Kerala’s unique temple design.

•    Considered one of the 108 Divya Desams, holy abodes of Vishnu.

•    Renowned for its strict worship protocols and rituals.

Mythology:

Legend holds that the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple was established by Divakara Muni, a sage, after a direct vision of Lord Vishnu. It is said that Vishnu appeared to the sage in the form of a child, who then miraculously transformed into an idol and instructed the sage to build a temple at that spot. The sage's first offering to the newly enshrined idol was raw mangoes in a coconut shell, a tradition that continues to this day, preserving this unique offering as a sacred ritual in the temple.
