The temple is a 45 minute walk from the ridge; one can also hire a pony or taxi to visit the temple. Narkanda offers wonderful slopes for skiing. At an elevation of 2708 m, it has dense pine forests. Hatu Peak, 8 km from Narkanda, provides a striking panorama of the plains below. Narkanda also offers spectacular views of snow ranges. The ancient temple of Hatu Mata comes alive with skiers. If you wish to go trekking, Shali Peak is your goal. It is situated among the forests of Naldehra on a block of rocky trails ideal for trekking. At an altitude of 2510 m above sea level, it is a site offering some famous hikes and wonderful snow for skiing in winters. An enjoyable walk leads up to the Mahasu Peak. The Great Himalayan National Park in Kullu is a heritage site since June 2014. It focuses on the well-being of endangered plant and animal species.
