Climate in Kerala

Kerala is an alluring travel destination all year round, but the best time to go to Kerala depends on the experience you are looking for. The state has three seasons - summer, monsoon and winter, each offering distinct weather changes and experiences.

Summer (March to May)

Summer in Kerala is hot and humid, with temperatures between 25°C and 35°C. While the coastal regions remain cooler, the inland areas can experience higher temperatures due to the sea breeze. Kerala is a popular vacation destination during the summer, in spite of the warm weather. You can book a stay at one of the lush green hill stations like Munnar or Wayanad or opt for a beach vacation at Kovalam.

Monsoon (June to September)

The southwest and northeast monsoons bring heavy rainfall to Kerala during the monsoon season, replenishing water bodies and giving the state its natural green canopy. Temperatures drop to as low as 19°C. The monsoon can be intense in Kerala, but it also offers unique, enjoyable experiences. Indulge in Ayurvedic spas, enjoy indoor activities, take part in cultural festivals or watch traditional art performances.

Winter (October to February)

Winter is the best time to visit Kerala when the weather is cool and pleasant. During the winter months, you can take part in outdoor activities and sightseeing, enjoy a stay at one of Kerala's beaches or hill stations, or explore its backwaters and wildlife sanctuaries. Winter is also when you can take part in festivals like Onam or Navratri. With temperatures ranging from 18 °C to 29°C, winter is the best season to visit Kerala with your family.
