Situated at the northern end of Kully Valley, Manali can be one of the best mountain places to visit in India in December. A mountain lover’s paradise, Manali is famous for its tall deodar trees, majestic snow-capped mountains, and serpentine hill roads with a picturesque view.

The winter capital of Himachal Pradesh can be one of the great places for mountain vacations in India. Dense deodar and cedar forests at the backdrop of the mighty mountains enhance the mystical beauty of Dharamshala. Home to His Holiness, The Dalai Lama, Dharamshala, is an important centre of Tibetan Buddhist Culture.

Located in the Chamba district, near Chamba town, the beautiful town of Dalhousie is one of the most famous hill stations in India. The place offers a panoramic view of the Dhauladhar Mountain Range.
Named after the Earl of Dalhousie, the British Governor General of India, Dalhousie was originally established as a summer retreat. Today, tourists visit Dalhousie in December as well to experience the ethereal winter beauty of this former colonial town.

Any list comprising the best mountain places in India can’t be complete without mentioning Shimla, Himachal Pradesh’s capital and the largest city. The city retains its old colonial charm with numerous buildings with neo-gothic and Tudorbethan architecture.
