Who is a good doggo? Each and every one of them, of course! There is no denying that the world is a happier place thanks to all the dogs that mankind has been blessed with. Fun-loving, energetic and fuzzy companions that are surely making this lockdown an easier phase to bear.

If you are feeling confused and overwhelmed during the coronavirus lockdown period, your dog is probably feeling the same as well. Daily routines have been altered and they may be feeling confused having you at home all the time. Also, dogs can sense emotions so to maintain a happy and positive vibe, it is essential to keep your dog happy too. Here are some ways that can help in keeping your dog happy:

#1 Play Games

Dogs love all the attention they get. If you get their toys out, their tail will keep wagging and wagging! From fetch to hide-and-seek, engage in fun games with your dog that keeps their energy levels at a high as well as keeps them happy. Don’t forget that belly rub after a successful game session!

#2 Don’t Skip the Walks!

The coronavirus lockdown has imposed restrictions that makes it difficult for people with pets to accommodate the daily walks. Dogs will start getting irritable if they are forced to stay at home all day long. Those living in a complex or a colony can manage it by taking their dogs for a walk within the compound but not everybody has that same accommodation. Having said that, one walk a day has been made possible as long as you maintain 6 feet distance from another individual. If it is you and your partner, one small walk and one long walk can be made possible in a day.

#3 Re-establish Boundaries

Again, do not forget that your dog is confused too. While he/she may be over the moon to have you at home all day, your dog is also probably wondering why aren’t you stepping out. It is essential that you redefine boundaries during home quarantine so that you and your pet enjoy some personal time and you can get some work done around the house as well as for office.

#4 Teach and Treat!

Use this extra time that you have on your hands during coronavirus lockdown to teach your dog new tricks. If you need ideas, check out pet-friendly and pet-centric accounts on social media for inspiration. With every trick they learn, make sure to give them a treat. This will help in training them to perform the same action the next time you give a command. The next time you perform the trick and give them a treat, that smile forming on their face will make you happy too!

#5 Don’t Abandon Them

We understand it is a scary time but please do not abandon your pets or make them feel lonely in any way. Fake news and rumours lead to a state of paranoia which recently resulted in people letting go of their pets out of fear that animals can contract and spread coronavirus too. This is not true and there is no proof to support such a rumour. Even at home, make sure that you give your dog enough time and attention so that he/she does not feel neglected or sad.

Time to feed your very good doggo some yummy treats!
