Coorg, popularly known as the ‘Scotland of India’ is a breath-taking hill station nestled amid greenery in Karnataka. The landscape that surrounds Coorg has made it a favoured destination for family getaways. There are large stretches of greenery, aromatic coffee plantations, soaring mountain peaks and exotic vegetation. This combined with the tropical weather allures tourists to the many resorts in Coorg for a weekend break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The best time to visit Coorg is between October and May. This is the peak season when the climate is pleasant and perfect. From October to February, while the evenings are a bit chilly, the sun shines throughout the day allowing you and your family to indulge in plenty of outdoor adventure activities and sightseeing opportunities Coorg offers. Three major festivals are celebrated in Coorg during this time – Ugadi, Kaveri Shankarama, and Shivaratri.

Even though March to May is considered to be the summer months, the weather continues to be lovely for tourism in Coorg with family. Summers in Coorg offers an apt escape from the scorching heat in the cities. Again, the opportunity to spend time outdoors is plenty, which makes the hill station a fun getaway for the entire family. Carrying appropriate clothing is recommended. This includes comfortable clothing for the day, a light jacket for the night, a good pair of shoes, a small backpack with essentials like water, snacks, camera, sunglasses, hat, sunblock etc.
The monsoon is when the entire hill station looks lush and welcoming. Lasting from June until September, the monsoon season is considered to be offseason for tourism. Not to say that Coorg looks any less beautiful during these months.
With the drop in temperature, blooming plants and less than usual crowd, this could be the perfect formula for a getaway. The initial few months receive medium rainfall. The rain gains momentum towards the last couple of months.
