Once upon a time, Binsar served as the summer capital for Kumaon's Chand Kings. Situated at a height of 2420 metres, the small town is blessed with pleasant weather all year around. Binsar is completely surrounded with lush forests comprising of oak, pine, rhododendrons and deodar trees.

Just a short two kilometre trek to Zero Point to enjoy a 360 degree view of the majestic snow-clad mountains including Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Kedarnath, Shivling, and Trishul. Binsar also proves to be a trekking paradise with trails suitable for amateurs and professionals. It is a one-of-a-kind experience trudging your way through the snow or the greenery and making your way to the top. Nature-lovers will also taking a trip to the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. It is home to more than 200 species of birds, some of them being tits, forktail, nuthatches, magpies, kalij pheasant, monal, koklass pheasant, eagles, and Eurasian jays. You will also be able to catch glimpses of the wildlife like leopards, chital, Himalayan goral, grey langur, wild boar, red fox and pine marten.
