But years after you tied the knot, you may wonder where the spark went. Raising children, career advancement, health issues, random trials and tribulations, could all contribute to the jadedness.

Though it might seem extravagant at first, a second honeymoon is a great way to rekindle the bygone magic. Think it over. After all these years of routine life, won’t a few days spent solely in each other’s company be a wonderful way to reignite that spark?

Now that you’re sold on the idea of going on a second honeymoon, why not consider Udaipur?

Located on the shore of the tranquil Lake Pichola, with the Aravalli Hills as the backdrop, Udaipur is famously called ‘Venice of the East’ and ‘City of Lakes’. Its rich cultural background and history have a romance unmatched in Rajasthan – arguably even all of India.

Second honeymooners can go for boat rides on the lake, browse for trinkets and handicrafts in quaint bazaars, check out a lively arts scene, and explore the beautiful countryside.

The erstwhile capital of the kingdom of Mewar, Udaipur, is replete with magnificent palaces that offer a glimpse into the grandeur of their royal past. The devout rulers also built numerous temples that are superb examples of the architecture of the period.

Modern folklore has it that the Lake Palace is the crown jewel of Udaipur. The reality is that the City Palace in Udaipur is more befitting of that honour. It has 11 smaller palaces within its boundaries that offer glimpses into the glory of the Mewar dynasty.

Feast your eyes on the opulence of the Crystal Palace and take a boat ride to visit the Jag Mandir Palace. Situated near Lake Pichola, the Bagore-ki-Haveli – which was once the home of Maharana Shakti Singh of Bagore – is now a museum that showcases the day-to-day life of Rajputs.

To enjoy some great views, enjoy the peace while surrounded by greenery, fountains, artefacts, and pavilions at Saheliyon-ki-Bari. Built by Maharana Sangram Singh for his queen and her 48 women attendants, this garden is a perfect place to bring the romance back into your own lives.

Constructed in 1678, the Fateh Sagar Lake is one of the four lakes in the city. There are three islands in it, and the Aravalli Hills forms an unmatched scenic backdrop. One of the islands has been converted into a public park called Nehru Park, which is accessible by boat and is a favourite picnic spot.

While the fountains and floating restaurant are the most prominent attractions, the park is also home to many varieties of birds, especially in winter. The Udaipur Solar Observatory is situated on one of the islands in the lake.

If you want to inject a sense of adventure into your and get a bird’s-eye view of the city, take a ride on the ropeway that connects Deen Dayal Bagh and Doodh Talai to the Karni Mata Temple. If you plan this outing in the evening, you’ll be able to enjoy a spectacular view of the setting sun.

While camel safaris are restricted to the more arid parts of Rajasthan, you could go on a horse ride through the Aravalli Hills and over the vast expanses of the Thar Desert, and visit many of the forts, communities, and villages in western Rajasthan. A two-hour drive from Udaipur is the magnificent Kumbhalgarh Fort. The birthplace of Maharana Pratap, this World Heritage Site is one of the most formidable forts in Rajasthan. At 36 km, the outer wall of this fort is second in length only to the Great Wall of China. Located near Kumbhalgarh fort is Club Mahindra Kumbhalgarh resort, architecture and ambience of which is inspired by the royal era.

With its intricately carved pillars and painted walls, the 17th century Lakshmi Narayan temple in Kumbalgarh Fort houses an intricately carved idol of Lord Vishnu and is an architectural marvel. Other places to visit around Udaipur include Nathdwara, Jaisamand Lake, Nagda, Ranakpur, and Haldighati.

Located outside the hustle of the city, Club Mahindra Udaipur resort was designed to capture the architectural and cultural tradition of the Rajputs. The heritage resort offers tranquillity, relaxation, and a perfect blend of old-world charm, traditional hospitality, and modern amenities.

Experience grandeur, be it in your room or on the resort premises. Enjoy your favourite tipple at the Royal Tavern while listening to local musicians, followed by a feast at Aravalli, the restaurant that serves meals fit for royals. Then enjoy a leisurely swim, or head to Svaastha Spa for a relaxing massage.
