A number of these can be found at Ganpatipule, a place close to Mumbai and Pune. While visiting this region, you should definitely not miss these five religious places to see in Maharashtra.
This temple is a very famous landmark in the small town of Ganeshgule. Enthrall your children with its legends and stories! While this 400-year-old temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the usual Ganesh idols are not found here. Instead, there is a huge piece of rock. According to legend, water used to flow out from the naval point of this rock. It only stopped when Lord Ganesha left Ganeshgule for Ganpatipule. The temple has been built out of jambha rock.
This Malgund temple built in Hemadpathi style was erected in the memory of Balwantrao Mehendale, one of the Peshwa martyrs of the Third Battle of Panipat. This is a good place to give your kids a dose of history while telling them stories of the Third Battle of Panipat. The temple has five different idols i.e. Ganpati, Laxmi-Keshav, Shiv-Ling, Parvati, and the Sun-God Mounting seven horses.
3. Shri-Laxmi-Keshav Temple
Among all the religious places to see in Maharashtra, the Shri-Laxmi-Keshav Temple has the most enviable location. Dedicated to the Goddess Laxmi and Lord Keshav, the temple is surrounded by majestic mountains, dense forests, deep valleys, and a crystal-clear brook. The temple’s idol itself showcases the finest skill of ancient sculpting. Made up of the reddish-black shaligram stone from Nepal, this beautiful idol towers over everything with its five-foot height.
4. Shri Uma—Maheshwar Mandir
The location of this 18th-century temple makes it one of must-visit places to see in Maharashtra. Many tourists visit this temple when they are on their way to the clear and pristine Hedvi seashore, a must-visit for all family vacations. There is a beautiful Ganesha idol kept in this temple.
5. Shrikshetra Parashuram
This temple is dedicated to Lord Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is said that he was the one who formed the Konkan region after causing the sea to recede. The Shrikshetra Parashuram should not be missed by architecture buffs because it boasts a mix of various architectural styles.
