Tourists planning to visit Srinagar are advised to book Houseboat rides at least a month in advance amidst the increased visitor footfall in Srinagar.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, is witnessing an unprecedented surge in tourist arrivals this season, significantly boosting the region's tourism industry. The city's iconic houseboats, a major attraction for visitors, are now in such high demand that prospective tourists are advised to book their rides at least a month in advance.

Advanced Booking for Houseboats

The serene Dal Lake, often referred to as the Jewel in the crown of Kashmir, spanning approximately 18 square kilometers, famous for its picturesque houseboats and Shikara rides, has become a bustling hub of activity.

This recent increase in tourist footfall can be attributed not just to Srinagar’s natural beauty featuring spell-binding scenery, majestic mountains, and picturesque lakes, but also because it is the coolest destination that serves as a respite to visitors from the extreme weather conditions.

The increased footfall has led to a shortage of available houseboats, pushing prices higher and making spontaneous travel plans more difficult to execute. Tourists are advised to plan their trips well in advance to secure accommodation and avoid disappointment.

Apart from opening up to captivating views, Shikaras provides unique accommodations and languid rides to tourists. Also known for its lively floating gardens and markets, the Dal Lake plays a pivotal role in Srinagar's economy. Tourists while enjoying the houseboat ride can shop for fresh produce and local handicrafts from vendors. Being the highlight of the region, the traditional houseboat rides draw tourists worldwide to experience the charms of Kashmir.
