Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department to introduce a QR code-based audio tour platform to enhance visitor experiences across 100 major attractions in the state.
In a bid to enhance visitor experience and promote smart tourism, Uttar Pradesh Tourism is launching QR code-based audio tours at the Taj Mahal and 100 other prominent heritage sites across the state. This innovative initiative aims to offer tourists a seamless and immersive way to explore historical landmarks by simply scanning QR codes with their smartphones.
The project, which will be rolled out in phases, starts with the Taj Mahal in Agra, followed by popular attractions such as Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, Fatehpur Sikri, and Lucknow’s Hazratganj and Bara Imambara. Visitors scanning the displayed QR codes at these monuments will gain access to audio guides available in Hindi and English language, to begin with, narrating the rich history, architecture, and cultural significance of each site.
The QR code audio tours align with the broader vision of the state of enhancing the tourism experience while embracing digital transformation. This new initiative will not only provide valuable information but also reduce the dependency on physical tour guides, ensuring a self-paced and personalized journey for visitors.
The audio guides are curated by experts, blending historical facts with engaging storytelling to cater to both domestic and international tourists. Visitors can use their smartphones without downloading any additional app, ensuring ease of access. The initiative is expected to boost footfall, particularly among younger, tech-savvy travelers.
With the implementation of these audio tours, Uttar Pradesh Tourism aims to position the state as a leading smart tourism destination in India. The move reflects the broader trend of leveraging technology in tourism to provide enriching, interactive experiences while preserving the essence of heritage.
