As lockdowns get lifted and travel restrictions ease up, we’re all looking forward to leaving our homes and stepping out once again to travel. And while you deserve every bit of your post-lockdown holiday, you need to be doubly careful to avoid infection. This doesn’t mean you need to be a paranoid germaphobe who lives in a plastic bubble. All you need to do is exercise a bit of caution and make conscious decisions that will keep you and your family safe when you travel. To that end, let’s look at a few travel essentials you’ll need to carry during your post-lockdown holiday to one of our Club Mahindra resorts. Remember, this list is indicative, you might want to check out a few Club Mahindra reviews for helpful tips from fellow travellers who’ve had safe and exciting holidays.

PPE

Personal protective equipment is the first thing you need to pack before you stuff your suitcase full of clothes. Masks are already mandatory in India, so there’s no avoiding those. Carry a few extra N-95 masks just in case. Along with masks, carry a few pairs of gloves if you’re travelling alone or a box if you’re going with the family. In addition to these, you could also pack face shields depending on the level of protection you desire.

N-95 masks Disinfectant Wipes

Disinfectant Wipes

Disinfectant wipes are essential these days. Use them to wipe down your surroundings and your hands and face. If you’re travelling by public transport, use these to wipe down the back of the seat in front of you, arm rests and every surface around you that could have infectious droplets. Do not use the same wipes on your hands and face. You should also use these to periodically wipe down your phone, wallet, wrist watch and sunglasses.

Sanitiser

A pocket-friendly bottle of hand sanitiser is as indispensable as your phone and wallet when you travel during Covid. If you’re flying to your destination, Covid-19 travel regulations allow you to carry up to 350 ml of hand sanitizer in your carry-on luggage. Any more should be stored in your checked luggage.

Brass Key

Buying a brass key is a good idea. These pocket tools made of antimicrobial brass come in handy when you want to push buttons. They also have a hook-shaped end for you to grab door handles to open them. This lets you avoid touching common surfaces and greatly reduces your risk of contamination.

Clothing

For travelling or sightseeing in public spaces, be sure to pack a few long-sleeved shirts or T-shirts and trousers. These will minimise your body’s exposure to airborne pathogens. Ensure these aren’t mixed with your other clothes and that they are stored separately and laundered immediately after use.

Lift Cutlery

Power Banks

Social distancing is the name of the game when you travel. That means you’ll be paying using apps and online methods. To ensure you never run out of battery when you need it the most always have a power bank handy. Especially when you’re out and about. Avoid visiting ATMs and transacting in cash for the time being.

Cutlery

If you plan to while travelling, carrying your own disposable or reusable cutlery is a good idea. Rub these down with sanitiser and store them in a ziploc bag and keep them handy. This might seem excessive, but you’d rather be safe than sorry at the end of the day.

There you have it, a list of travel essentials under ‘the new normal’. Sure, you’ll do your part when it comes to packing, but what about the arrangements at your destination?
