Coorg, also known as the ‘Scotland of India,’ is a stunning, peaceful, and verdant hill station in Karnataka. Blessed with gorgeous natural topography, it is adorned with unending coffee and spice plantations. Take in the aroma of coffee and spices, go trekking, visit the lovely waterfalls, pray at the temples and monasteries, or roam and shop in Madikeri, the district headquarters. There is an almost endless list of things to do here with family!
While you are here, make sure to visit the holy Triveni Sangam. It is one of the most wondrous places to visit in Coorg with family and offers a chance for you to introduce your kids to prayer and mythology in a beautiful manner.
The Triveni Sangam is the confluence of three rivers: Cauvery, Kannike, and Sujyothi in Coorg. It is a sacred spot for Hindus, who come here by the dozen to pray. Four temples are situated here, one for each of the four deities, namely Subramanya, Ishwarya, Ganapathy, and Vishnu. It is one of the must-visit things to do in Coorg if you want to teach your kids about religion and prayer. Make it a point to take a dip in the holy waters along with your kids. It would be a good idea to pack a change of clothes and towels, to prevent your kids from catching a cold.
The Triveni Sangam is located 33 km from Madikeri and the best way to reach is by jeep or taxi from Madikeri or Virajpet. We have our Club Mahindra resorts present at each of these locations. The nearest airports are Mysore Airport and Mangalore International Airport. The closest railway station is at Mysore.
This place is good to visit all year round, as temperatures are pleasant. Try visiting during the monsoon as the lush greenery adds a wonderful charm to the region and the waters of the rivers will be in abundance during this time.
Also there are various other pious places to visit in Coorg such as Bhagamandala Temple on the banks of river Kaveri which is a must visit if place for Hindus where the can wash away their sins.
