As the world slowly returns to a new normal post-pandemic, the tourists are also putting back their travel shoes. Indians form a significant chunk of international tourists for many countries. Such countries offer visa-free or visa-on-arrival options to Indian tourists.

At present, more than 50 countries offer visa-free access to Indian citizens. Following are five such countries that are visa-free destinations for Indian passport holders.

Note that a visa free destination here means countries that either don’t need any visa at all or provide visa on arrival.

1.  Indonesia

Officially the Republic of Indonesia, the country shares its maritime border with India and other countries. The largest archipelagic state in the world is one of the best places to travel without a visa on an Indian passport.

Indian citizens only need a free-of-cost visa exception stamp from the Immigration counter if travelling in Indonesia for less than 30 days. If the travel duration is more than 30 days, apply for a visa on arrival on entering the country.

Where to Stay in Indonesia - Check into the calm and serene Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, a Club Mahindra affiliate property, while exploring Bali. Spend all day strolling on the sparkling sands of Nusa Dua beach or visit nearby attractions like Uluwatu temple, Pura Tanah lot, etc.

2.  Sri Lanka

Despite being so close to India, Sri Lanka remains surprisingly unexplored by Indian travellers. From pristine sea beaches and herbal treatments to dense forests and ancient ruins- the island nation can surprise you in many ways.

Indian citizens can obtain a visa on arrival while on a short trip to Sri Lanka. However, you’ll need to apply online for Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

Where to Stay in Sri Lanka - The Mount Lavina Hotel, a Club Mahindra affiliate, can be your ideal stay in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital and largest city. Drop your anchor in this splendid hotel and explore the famous Gangaramaya temple, Dehiwala zoo, and many other places.

3.  Thailand

A top visa-free destination from India, Thailand is one of the most visited countries in Southeast Asia. The country offers a visa on arrival to Indians, but only if they are visiting Thailand strictly for tourism purposes. The validity of such a visa on arrival is 15 days.

Where to Stay in Thailand - You can stay at the following Club Mahindra affiliate resorts while exploring the popular exotic tourist locations,

  • Swissotel Kamala Beach, Phuket
  • Mac Boutique, Bangkok
  • The Bayview Hotel, Pattaya

4.  Malaysia

From glittering malls and bustling city streets to ecologically diverse forest getaways, Malaysia is a great destination for explorers. The country is the latest to join the list of countries that allow a visa on arrival for some Indian tourists starting from June 1, 2022.

The visa on arrival would be available for Indian tourists arriving in Malaysia from Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and Brunei. Such tourists should have a valid visa from either of these four countries. You can stay up to 15 days in Malaysia by showing a confirmed return air ticket to India.

Where to Stay in Malaysia - Check into Parkroyal Serviced Suites while you're at Kuala Lampur. Laced with all modern amenities, the location is close to all the landmarks and prominent markets in the city.

5.  Mauritius

Although a part of the African continent, Mauritius has a significantly large number of people of Indian origin. The island nation in the Indian Ocean shares cordial relations with India. It is one of the best places to go without a visa for Indian travellers.

Just arrive at Mauritius’s sole international airport, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, with

  • a valid Indian passport,
  • proof of accommodation in Mauritius,
  • confirmed return ticket within 60 days of arrival,
  • Fund to support your daily expenses (₹3,500- ₹7000 per day)

Apply for a visa on arrival at the airport. You’ll get the visa with 60-day validity without any hassle.
