Amba Ghat is the kind of place where the journey is as enjoyable as the destination. The road between Kolhapur and Konkan winds through forested hills and open valleys, and during the monsoon, the landscape gets greener, the hills disappear into mist and the drive becomes even more enjoyable.

There is no need to rush through Amba Ghat. The winding roads take you through forested stretches and open valleys, with plenty of reasons to stop along the way.
Monsoon is particularly good for a road trip here. Rain-fed streams appear along the route, the hills turn greener and mist usually settles over the landscape. Beyond the scenery, you can fit in a little history and culture too, with forts and temples not too far away.
Just 5 km from Club Mahindra Amba Ghat, Manoli Dam is an easy stop when you want to spend some time outdoors.
Set amid green hills, birds such as kingfishers and herons can be spotted around the water. During the monsoon, the surrounding landscape becomes greener and the clouds add to the scenery.
Around 29 km from the resort, Marleshwar Temple is a Shiva shrine that’s inside a natural cave in the Sahyadris.
Reaching the temple involves a climb through the surrounding landscape. During the rains, the waterfall and greenery make the setting even more striking.
If you're visiting during heavy rain, however, check local conditions before making the climb, as wet paths around waterfalls and hill terrain can become slippery.

About 21 km from the resort, Vishalgad Fort presents a different side of the region. The fort has strong links with Maratha history and offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
Allow enough time to explore rather than treating it as a quick photo stop. The fort's ruins and surrounding terrain are as much a part of the experience as the views.
Around 8.3 km from the resort, Waghzara offers another reason to stay on the road a little longer.
The route passes through forested surroundings, with moss-covered rocks and water flowing through the landscape during the rains. It is less about ticking off a landmark and more about enjoying the drive through this part of the Western Ghats.
Take your time, particularly during the monsoon, and let the changing scenery do the work.

At Club Mahindra Amba Ghat, the Western Ghats become part of the experience from the moment you arrive. Perched along the winding Amba Ghat highway, the retreat combines warm, contemporary interiors with valley views and a peaceful setting surrounded by the region's natural beauty.
Use it as your base for exploring Manoli Dam, Marleshwar Temple, Vishalgad Fort and Waghzara, then return to the comfort of the resort after a day spent on the road.
Expect monsoon conditions: Rain can make hill roads and walking paths slippery, so check local weather and road conditions before heading out.
Keep some flexibility: Waterfalls and forest routes can look very different depending on the intensity of the rain.
Plan your stops: Marleshwar involves a substantial climb, while Vishalgad is better enjoyed with enough time for exploring.
Take the scenic route: Amba Ghat is as much about the drive between destinations as the attractions themselves.
If travelling around Ganesh Chaturthi: September can bring Maharashtra's festive atmosphere into the journey, with local celebrations and traditional sweets such as modaks adding a cultural touch.
