Are you planning a vacation but wondering when and where to go? Long weekends in 2024 are the best escape gateway to cross when you feel that life has become mundane, and it is running parallel with the routine track. August

On the fourth weekend, we get Monday (August 30) off because of the celebration of Janmashtami. A thrilling getaway can be planned to Jaipur from Delhi. If you can manage to take two leaves, plan to go to Mandawa in Rajasthan as well. The Havelis there are colourful and have beautiful paintings adorning the walls.

From Mumbai, the weekend getaway can be planned to Mahabaleshwar, Malshej Ghat, Amboli, Hatgad, and Bhandardara. During monsoon, the places become lively and give travellers a fairy tale experience. One would not find much rush at these places and can enjoy and have a relaxing trip.

From Kolkata, the best places to travel on the long weekends in 2024 are Mandarmani and Darjeeling (take a flight to Bagdogra). Rain and beaches are a magical combination for fun and romantic trips. For an extended long week (Add 2 more days), one can consider Cherrapunji and Mawsynram.

From Bengaluru, Coorg and Agumbe make for some great long weekend destinations in the monsoons. With kids, Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary could be a fun visit. The town is renowned as Cherrapunji of the South.

September

The second weekend of the month can be clubbed with Ganesh Chaturthi (September 10), and you can avail yourself of a three-day holiday. Not many firms offer holidays on this occasion. However, it is one of the much-awaited celebrations in Mumbai and Bengaluru.

From Mumbai, people can plan to visit the wine capital of the country, Nashik. There are hundreds of things to enjoy in the vineyard including picking grapes and tasting tours. Other tourist attractions in the vicinity are Muktidham Temple, Mhasoba Temple, Pandavleni Caves and Trimbakeshwar. However, one can also stay in the city and enjoy the grand and colourful celebration of Lord Ganesha.

The place near Bengaluru that is perfect to enjoy the long weekend in 2024 is Dandeli. There is a wildlife sanctuary that offers a stroll in the middle of a lush green forest. People have witnessed elephants and black panthers in the sanctuary. Other attractions to cover are Shiroli Peak, Sathoddi Falls, Sykes Point and River Kali.

October

It is a month when a long weekend in India will stretch between 3 to 5 days due to the celebration of Navratri and Dussehra. Kolkata is a place to plan a vacation to witness the festival at a magnificent level. The streets are decorated during Durga Pujo, and a culture unravelling in different hues is a sight to behold.

Another weekend getaway from Delhi could be Manali. For people who love to trek or spend time amid mountains, the hill station has abundant beauty to offer. With unique language, culture and rituals, Manali in Himachal Pradesh is full of adventures. This month will be bringing two long weekends. The first long weekend in 2024, this month will be due to Diwali(November 4), and the second one will be due to Guru Nanak Jayanti (November 19). With many holidays in this month, it could be a fun experience to accommodate that trip to India plan and enjoy it to the fullest.

The town of Ooty is not far from Bengaluru to explore in the autumn season. It is packed with the beauty of nature and is renowned for homemade chocolates.

In Himachal Pradesh lies the gorgeous town of Nahan. It is only 250 km away from Delhi. Green meadows, temples, lakes and trekking trails are major attractions.

December
