You can have a memorable holiday experience with a 3-day itinerary for Udaipur to explore the city when you have a limited time. Otherwise, you need at least 7-8 days to fully explore the city and its many attractions, get a feel of its culture and indulge in various activities.

Udaipur, 'the city of lakes', is one of the most picture-perfect cities in India. Located in Rajasthan, this stunning town is a true testament to Rajasthan's royal past. The city oozes a royal aura from the corner, which is only accentuated by the expansive palaces, historical forts and majestic mahals.

Over the years, Udaipur has emerged as the most popular destination wedding hotspot, and for a good reason. It has the perfect setting for a romantic unison. So, whether you go to Udaipur for a honeymoon or a fun holiday with your family, Udaipur will surely leave a lasting impression on you.

Here is a 3-day itinerary for Udaipur to ensure you have a gala time in the land of the royals.

Udaipur Itinerary Day 1

Start your first day of exploring the beautiful city of Udaipur with a bang, and visit two of the most prominent attractions – the City Palace and Lake Pichola, which are close to each other. The City Palace is not just any other tourist attraction; it is an iconic monument that reflects the rich history and the royal past of Rajasthan.

The massive palace has awe-inspiring architecture, and its expansive size says a lot about the lavish life of the Rajput kings. The palace premises have many courtyards. You can tour the palace and get an insight into its opulence and artistic brilliance.

After you explore the palace, you can head to your next destination, Lake Pichola. The lake is located close to the palace and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Udaipur. While the lake looks magnificent during the day, it is best advised to visit it in the evening, during the sunset. As the sun sets, the golden reflection of the sun on the calm waters provides a mesmerising sight.

While you are at the lake, don't forget to take a boat ride over the lake and visit the Jag Mandir. It is a beautiful temple with a stunning architecture.

Udaipur Itinerary Day 2

Your holiday to Udaipur would be incomplete without visiting the Kumbhalgarh Fort. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most-visited attractions in Rajasthan. This fort must be at the top of your must-visit places in your 3-day itinerary for Udaipur.

While you may be in awe of the fort from the outside, wait till you go on top. The fort offers a panoramic view of the Aravalli Mountain ranges. Historians say the great Rajput King and the ruler of the Mewar region, Maharana Pratap, used this fort as a refuge centre during the war. Although some parts of the fort are now in ruins, it still stands as a testimony of the royal era.

After you take in the beauty of the fort and the stunning view from above, you can head to your next stop in Udaipur – Ambrai Ghat. You can easily fit this place in your 2-night, 3-day Udaipur itinerary. Apart from offering a gleaming reflection of the City Palace over Pichola Lake, Ambrai Ghat is also a wonderful spot to relax and get a taste of Udaipur Street food.

Udaipur Itinerary Day 3

What is a holiday to Udaipur without some shopping? So, you can take it easy after learning about the rich history of the forts and palaces on your last day in the city of lakes. So, today, you can head to Udaipur's most famous local market, the Hathipole Market. You can buy some colourful Rajasthani souvenirs like the Rajasthani turbans, gorgeous handmade bags, handicraft items, handmade jewellery, or Bandhani printed clothes.

You can never have enough of Udaipur; such is the beauty of this royal town. But it is time to say goodbye to Udaipur with a promise to return.
