32 airports reopened two days after an improved geopolitical scenario.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced the resumption of civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India, following a temporary suspension due to heightened security concerns. The restrictions, previously communicated through a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), were in effect until 05:29 AM on May 15.
The suspension, which impacted commercial flights, was part of a coordinated effort by the AAI and other aviation authorities in response to evolving circumstances. With normalcy restored, all affected airports are now fully operational and open to civilian aircraft movements with immediate effect.
The list of impacted airports included key regional hubs such as Chandigarh, Srinagar, Amritsar, and Leh, as well as other strategic locations including Ludhiana, Bhuntar, Kishangarh, Patiala, Shimla, Dharamsala, Bathinda, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Pathankot, Jammu, Jamnagar, and Bhuj.
Passengers scheduled to travel via these airports are strongly advised to confirm their flight status directly with their respective airlines. Additionally, travelers are encouraged to monitor official airline websites and communication channels for the most up-to-date information on schedules and operations.
Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of staying informed amid rapidly changing conditions and have assured that safety and operational efficiency remain top priorities.
The swift reopening of these airports comes as a relief to passengers and the aviation industry alike, ensuring minimal disruption to travel plans and restoring connectivity across the affected regions.
