The ancient city of Kashi (Varanasi) is gearing up for one of its grandest annual celebrations — the Ganga Mahotsav 2025. Scheduled from November 1 to November 4, the event will see the city’s iconic ghats burst into life with devotional music, dance, art, and cultural performances, illuminating the sacred banks of the Ganges with thousands of flickering diyas.

Ganga Mahotsav 2025

Organized by the Uttar Pradesh government, the festival aims to highlight the spiritual and cultural legacy of the River Ganges, which has been the lifeline of Varanasi for centuries. The celebrations will primarily take place at Rajghat and Namo Ghat, where the riverfront will transform into a glowing spectacle, symbolizing faith, art, and tradition.

Each day of the Mahotsav promises captivating performances by eminent artists. The opening day will feature a Kathak duet by Pandit Mata Prasad Mishra and Pandit Ravi Shankar Mishra, along with classical renditions by Dr. Ripi Mishra and Pandit Naval Kishore Mallik. On November 2, audiences can look forward to Bharatanatyam by Padma Shri Geeta Chandran, followed by soulful bhajans and instrumental pieces. The third day will showcase folk legend Padma Shri Malini Awasthi, flautist Chetan Joshi, and Odissi dancer Kavita Dwivedi, while the grand finale on November 4 will feature Hansraj Raghuvanshi’s devotional music.

Alongside the performances, visitors can savour authentic Banarasi delicacies, shop for silk sarees, brassware, and handicrafts, and experience a tranquil boat ride on the Ganges under the glow of countless lamps.

As Kashi prepares to celebrate its timeless bond with the Ganga, the Ganga Mahotsav 2025 promises to be a soulful confluence of faith, culture, and celebration, offering visitors an experience steeped in divine splendour.
