Drawing inspiration from the Ganga aarti, Goa’s tourism department has initiated plans to introduce similar rituals along the Mandovi River at Narve.

To enhance spiritual tourism, Goa Tourism has announced the creation of a dedicated ‘Aarti Deck’ on the Mandovi River at Narve, inspired by the famous Ganga aarti rituals. The initiative aims to offer visitors a serene and culturally enriching experience, blending Goa’s scenic beauty with spiritual traditions.

This project led by the Tourism Department costing around 10.5 crore might also feature a larger-than-life statue of Lord Shiva and is expected to take eight to ten months to complete. The Narve Aarti Deck will serve as a venue for daily river aartis, similar to the grand Ganga aarti performed in cities like Varanasi, Haridwar, and Rishikesh.

The aarti deck will be designed to accommodate devotees and tourists comfortably. It will involve the construction of a puja mandapam, a ticket counter, a seating space, a cafeteria, and a tourist information center. Special jetty and boat services may also be introduced to offer visitors a wholesome experience.

Located in Bicholim taluka, Narve is home to the revered Saptakoteshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is among the 11 shrines included in the Ekadasha Teertha Yatra, a pilgrimage circuit that Goa Tourism is promoting to boost spiritual tourism in the state. Additionally, the project is expected to boost local businesses, handicraft markets, and food stalls, offering a holistic tourism experience.

With the introduction of the Narve Aarti Deck, Goa is set to add a spiritual dimension to its tourism offerings, blending religious heritage with its natural charm, and making it a must-visit attraction for both pilgrims and tourists alike.
