Gujarat, a state renowned for its rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes, is making a strategic move to enhance its tourism sector with the upcoming Lion-Leopard Safari Parks and Cheetahs breeding centre.

This ambitious project, located in the Gir-Somnath district, promises to offer a unique and immersive wildlife experience that is expected to draw tourists from around the world. As per recent reports, tourists visiting the intriguing white desert of Kutch and the mesmeric beaches of Diu will soon have the chance to embark on guided safaris, providing a close-up view of these majestic creatures and an unforgettable adventure in the heart of nature.

The twin safari parks, set to be developed along the lines of the existing Devalia safari park, will be located at Narayan Sarovar in Kutch and Naliya-Mandvi (Una taluka) in Gir Somnath. Home to a variety of wildlife, including lions and leopards, in their natural habitats, these parks will aim to promote eco-tourism while raising awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation.

Going by the reports, marking a significant development in both tourism and wildlife conservation efforts, the state government’s proposal to establish lion-leopard safari parks has received approval from the Central Zoo Authority of India (CZAI).

Offering enclosures for both lions and leopards, the proposed Narayan Sarovar safari park is expected to be a major attraction for Kutch. Similarly, the Naliya-Mandvi safari park will be situated about 8 km from Diu and will also cover nearly 400 hectares of forest land. In addition to these parks cheetah breeding center in the Banni area of Kutch has also been approved by CZAI. Covering over 500 hectares, this center will be India’s first breeding facility for cheetahs.

Scheduled to open its doors to visitors by 2025, the Lion-Leopard Safari Park is expected to become a major attraction for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and adventure seekers. By offering a world-class wildlife experience, Gujarat aims to cement its place on the global tourism map while contributing to the conservation of its unique biodiversity. The park symbolizes a significant step forward in Gujarat's efforts to balance tourism growth with environmental stewardship.
