Indian Railways launches ‘SwaRail,’ a SuperApp designed to streamline train travel, offering a unified platform for enhanced user convenience.
Indian Railways has unveiled the 'SwaRail' SuperApp, aiming to consolidate various railway services into a single, user-friendly platform. The app is currently in its beta testing phase on Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, with a full launch anticipated post-testing.
Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), SwaRail integrates multiple public-facing applications of Indian Railways. This integration eliminates the need for passengers to use multiple apps, thereby reducing device space consumption and enhancing user experience.
Key features of the SwaRail SuperApp include:
Unified Ticketing System: Users can book reserved and unreserved tickets, purchase platform tickets, and access season passes.
PNR Tracking: Passengers can check their booking status, train schedules, and seat availability.
Parcel and Freight Tracking: The app provides functionalities for parcel and freight inquiries.
E-Catering Service: Integration with IRCTC’s e-Catering allows passengers to order food during their journey.
Rail Madad: A dedicated feature for real-time grievance reporting and resolution.
To enhance security and ease of access, the app offers single sign-on functionality, allowing users to access multiple railway services across existing apps of Indian Railways like IRCTC RailConnect, UTS Mobile App, etc. with one set of credentials. It also supports m-PIN and biometric authentication for secure login.
The Ministry of Railways is actively seeking user feedback during this beta phase to refine the application before its official public release. Users are encouraged to participate and provide insights to help shape the future of railway travel in India.
The SwaRail SuperApp represents a significant advancement in digital railway services, aiming to make railway services smarter, faster, and more efficient for millions of passengers across the country.
