India's Largest Cruise Terminal, MICT, Inaugurated at Mumbai's Ballard Pier

Cruise operations officially commenced at the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT), marking a major leap forward for India’s maritime and tourism sectors. 

Developed at Ballard Pier with a total investment of ₹556 crore, MICT stands as the largest cruise terminal in the country, built to handle one million passengers annually—up to 10,000 passengers daily.

Spread across a massive 4.15 lakh square feet, Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT), India’s largest cruise terminal has been constructed in line with the government's Cruise Bharat Mission and global infrastructure standards. It is poised to become a pioneering force in shaping future of cruise tourism in India.

MICT is equipped with 72 check-in and immigration counters spread over 2.07 lakh square feet across its first two floors, while the upper floors are developed for commercial use. It can simultaneously accommodate up to five cruise ships with a draft of 11 metres and a length of up to 300 metres. Additionally, it offers parking facilities for more than 300 vehicles.

With Mumbai already established as a historic maritime hub, the MICT adds modern, passenger-friendly facilities to the city’s seafaring legacy. The terminal complements existing international cruise terminals at Visakhapatnam and Chennai, positioning India as a growing destination in the global cruise circuit.

The recent move is expected to significantly boost regional economic activity and employment. The inauguration of MICT marks a landmark moment in India’s maritime journey, underscoring its commitment to global connectivity and tourism excellence.
